It is with a feverish excitement that we can finally announce the next EP in our catalog from our newest addition to the Second State family: Amelie Lens. Besides being quite a multi-talented virtuoso, the Belgian artist comes in hot and heavy for her debut release ‘Let It Go’ and with it showcases her prowess for dark, cutting-edge techno. Over the span of four tracks Lens takes us on a tour-de-force journey into the cerebral spaces of large, dark rooms and flashing strobe lights. Kicking things off is the hypnotically inducing 'Wild' with looping vocals laid over an ever increasing pressure of percussion and white noise. Much like the EP opener, 'Linger On' casts the same spell yet picks up the pace with racing snares and meteoric synth washes creating a deeply euphoric ride. The title track ’Let It Go' is up next and is by far the most 'cheeky' tune of the EP with a twisted acid line swirling around the constant begging of Lens’ voice encouraging you to "Let It Go, Let It Out". Rounding out the EP is 'The Finest Hour' and Lens wraps up her debut with the most psychedelic cut of the package. Low rumbling bass tones and spaced out pads over sparse drums leave lots of room for the imagination providing each listener to create their own journey to navigate. If this is Amelie Lens' debut with us, we expect a lot of very big things to come from the young Belgian and so should you. Welcome Amelie Lens!

On August 22nd Rebekah returns to the fold with her second EP on Soma, following her 2015 debut ‘Confined Heart’. Staying true to her UK techno roots, the Berlin based artist delivers three monster cuts that exemplify her ferocious sound.

Title track ‘Anxiety’ has Rebekah firing on all cylinders as raucous synth sequences pulse through wild percussion, never seeming to let up and certainly taking no prisoners. ‘The Riddle’ continues with similar energy levels as Rebekah infuses pounding rhythms with straight up percussive elements, before taking a perfectly controlled dive into deeper elements - comprising short blasts of subtle pads that give a more emotive side to the track. ‘19 Grams’ rounds of the EP with a little more subdued start, but in true Rebekah fashion, the pace quickly intensifies as shattering hi hats and saw tooth sequences blast in, effortlessly held together by beautifully gliding pads that give a perfect structure. 

Rebekah delivers yet another excellently crafted EP that defines her sound as a producer and also a DJ.

Glasgow based producer, Galaxian, is set to drop the 11th release of Helena Hauff’s Return to Disorder imprint. “Paradise Engineering” is an ambitiously psychedelic piece of machine mastery that will be right at home on Hauff’s label, with which she set out to bring “punk rock and techno together” in 2015. The label’s name refers to the reactionary post-WW1 art movement, Return to Order, which called for a rejection of the avant-garde in favor of conservatism and classicism. Return to Disorder has embraced experimentation and genre bending with releases from the likes of Children of Leir, Morah and Umwelt. Galaxian’s proximity to the sharp edge of quantum chaos and belief in the anarchism of nature make him a fitting addition to the Hamburg based label.

“Paradise Engineering”, is a lot to unpack. Within its four tracks, Galaxian lays out an intricate web of self, spiritual and socio-technic exploration and critique. Producing the cover art alone took him on a 12 month journey, while meditating on questions of inner-alchemy, freedom and transcendence. The music covers extensive sonic topography with each of the four distinct tracks building a critical tension while creating counterpoint for one another. Violently intricate drum machine work stakes out the boundaries of “Paradise Engineering’s” autonomous zone, where Galaxian lays out a dense thesis on the harrowed human condition. The tracks leave the listener much to ponder, especially with lines like, “You have been deprived of knowledge by frequency control” and “All possibilities exist”. Synth and bass lines emerge oscillating around each other from deep space on the EP’s second A-side, “Mutual Arising”, clean and crisp supporting elements to stratospheric strings. It gets significantly more aggressive on the B-side with “Life Force” drilling through neck-snapping electro drums with acid patterns, whose methodic dynamism and complexity begins to sound like inter-galactic alien transmissions when blown through a dizzying effect chain. Comfortably between literal and abstract, complex and elegant, “Paradise Engineering” is a deep and rewarding listen.

Picking up from where she left off with last years successful Tools of My Purpose, E-Saggila has returned to BANK employing a more sublime and immersive electronic document. Previously leaning toward noisier and distorted rhythms, she has incorporated more sophisticated elements into writing and production. Dedicated to Sublimity is a product of growth and progression but still reflects the raw elements we’ve heard in her early recordings. Lush and atmospheric elements coincide with the brutality of her live sets and play off one another as a cohesive representation of the E-Saggila project.

Our first LP is presented by our deeply appreciated resident Héctor Oaks. Taking inspiration from his marathon sets in Bassiani’s second floor, Höroom, and the 11th of May in Tbilisi, the techno staple crafted his own take on contemporary dance music. “As We Were Saying” is an unapologetic collection of heartfelt, powerful techno. Crafted by a vinyl lover for dancing purposes, its arrangement and composition fits both, club or as an energizing home listening. This is the soundtrack for our revolution.

“The 11 tracks are a portrayal of the spirit captured in the vaults of the Dinamo Stadium. From my point of view, this is the voice of a generation that found it’s freedom in raving.
