Heavily influenced by artists like Michael Jackson, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Mc Shan, Big Daddy Kane, KRS One, Rakim, Slick Rick, Shinehead, Supercat, Ice Cube, Grand Puba, Guru, Nas, Jay Z, Ghostface, Meth, Red Man, Black Thought, Busta, Common and Mos Def. He started freestyling then writing in Flatbush, rapping under the alias, Flipside, (which later evolved to Mr. Flipsta).   Soon, he went from flowing off the head in ciphers to recording in studios and doing live performances as part of the rap group, Bakstabbaz.  Highlights of this endeavor include opening for Wu Tang Clan and being featured on the remix to the legendary Chuck D’s single entitled ”NO.”   Ironically, the group broke up soon after this success.  
Braf went on hiatus from recording and focused on completing college and starting his teaching career.  (He’s a high school English and health teacher at a performance arts high school.) Meanwhile, he continued writing songs and soon ran into an old friend, See Watts who had similar experiences, talents and aspirations. Together, they created their own independent record label, Akustyx Ent.   
In a business where many follow the mantra of less is more, Braf paves his own path by making music that overflows with poetry, and varying subject matter.  His love of family, history, community and yes, even comic books are obvious in his music.   His first solo project, “Manchild in the Promised Land,” can be purchased on iTunes.  He’s rocked stages from NYC to Cali.   His balance of style, substance and stage presence is moving and refreshing.  Sky’s the limit for this lyricist whose motto is persistence beats resistance.

Some artists define a genre, but Lil Baby defines a generation.
