i dared myself to journey there,
to the windswept fields, so bleak, so bare.
where whispers echo through the plain,
and every gust recalls my pain.
the thracian fields drank deep my cries,
their ancient sands, where sorrow lies.
each step a shiver, each breath a plea,
how many times did they see me?
the shores of sand, my solemn stage,
each grain a mark, each wave an age.
and as the days crawled, slow and grim,
i counted down my sorrows’ hymn.
at last, they spilled from trembling hands,
to blackened keys in far-off lands.
the piano wept; its mournful song
revealed the place where I belong.
but even now, the winds still call,
through thracian fields, beyond it all.
a part of me still lingers there,
