In the Summer of 2020 we spoke to some of our artists in light of COVID-19 to see how we could stimulate creativity in lockdown. With acapellas being virtually gold dust we decided to free up some vocals from previous 1Forty releases featuring Killa P, Lyrical Strally & K Dot. A stream of submissions followed thus leaving us no choice but to put together an EP.

Two years on we wanted to go again - 1Forty Acapellas EP #2. This time welcoming submissions with a view to release a fresh take on Logan’s ‘Bun Dem Down’ vocal from his collab with Hamdi. The outcome being a speed garage remix from Ghoulish and another Grime take on Jon E Clayface’s ‘Cold’ from his collab with ‘Prizma’.

P Skinna and Liondub are back at it once again with another Dancehall heater. This time around, rising star Badda General drops “Kickers”, a future yardman anthem about fresh classic hi-tops over the “Buss Head” riddim that Busy Signal recently dropped his smash “Tropics” on to great acclaim. The hard hitting, modern UK Dancehall track from P Skinna & Liondub lays solid ground work for Badda’s infectious lyrical flow on this criss follow up single for the bashment lovers on the Liondub International label.

Swept - Instincts (Logan, Bliss, Marsta Menzz, Armzout) (FREE DOWNLOAD)

Born in Bow E3 London, Selecta Fury lived the whole UK underground music explosion in the early 2000s from what transitioned from Jungle to Garage to Grime before it reaching the levels it has some 20 years later but for him it all started with Slimzee and Wiley.

Due to various challenges life brought his way it wasn't until 2014 when he first exposed himself to DJ'ing and dabbling on and off with production over those years.

Fast forward to 2022 he did the very first Grime set to be broadcast on BBC Three Counties Radio (Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire) alongside Jammer, SBK and Shizz McNaughty to name a few and also featured on friend of the Label - Kirby T's (Reprezent) Grime Sessions platform with a host of reputable MCs.

As for a lot of producers lockdown meant more time to learn new skills or sharpen existing ones and that's exactly what the now Luton based producer did. 18 months on from that he's been rewarded with his commitment to the authentic Grime sound after all these years with his debut release on 1Forty taking Jon E Clayface's 'Cold' vocal from his collab with Prizma to land the official remix for the 1Forty Acapellas #2 EP.

Prizma x Jon E Clayface - Cold (Selecta Fury Grime Remix) [Free DL]

Adam Harper aka Ghoulish stormed onto the UK music scene in 2021 with his intricate and powerful dancefloor-shaking production style. In less than a year of releasing new music he's received regular support from the legends of the rave scene such as Skream, My Nu Leng Holy Goof, Notion, Sammy Virji and Riz La Teef to name a few as well as being coined a UKF ones to watch in 2022.

Further to his impressive production, Ghoulish cut his teeth in 2018 with the sounds of dubstep and drum and bass, which has helped him incorporate a fast-paced, energetic and unique style to his own productions and DJ sets. His DJ sets are regularly filled with his own productions as well as rare dubplates and unreleased tracks from his favourite producers, spanning from UKG, grime, breakbeats, 4x4, 140, jungle and everything in between which makes the Mancunians sets hard to put him in a box - just how we like it.

Ghoulish devises anything from UKG and speed garage/bassline to the depths of dubstep and grime whilst also being able to turn his hand to euphoric breakbeats and up-tempo rave cuts with ease, usually taking inspiration from those combination of genres in part and fusing them together.

His 2-track vinyl release on ec2a (1999/Buss It Up) in 2021 sold out in less than 10 hours and has been hugely sort-after since, which is how he first landed on 1Forty's radar. Fast forward 9 months later and a submission to the 1Forty Acapellas #2 project landed in our inbox taking Logan's patois vocal from his and Hamdis 'Bun Dem Down' and turning it into a speed garage warper for one of the biggest UKG records on the label this year.
