The fourth release in our Break 3000 revisited classics series are three unreleased songs from the period 1998-2001. The opening track "Wide" has a great drive and shows Break 3000's early influence from producers like David Carretta and The Hacker. The second track takes up that same pace and is a fine melodic Electro/ Techno Emo track, so typical for the early 2000's Electro Clash movement he was part off. The closing title is a real FUN Italo inspired studio workout that aged very well these past 20 years, now finally seeing the light of day on this EP! Enjoy!

All tracks were carefully re-mastered by Salz Mastering in Cologne.

The first premiere of the year was cooked with groove and love in northern Russia, in Saint Petersburg to be more precise. Prolific DJ and producer Nightdrive makes his debut on the respected French label Citizens of Vice with “Improvisation”, a well-constructed (and far from being improvised) four-original EP that presents itself as a true showcase of the Russian artist’s sonority.

With appearances on interesting imprints such as Midnight People, U're Guay, Dug Up The Bongo, ANDRAS, Electric Shapes, welofi, Lisztomania, Tapes From Future, and Diffuse Reality, just to name a few, Nightdrive flirts competently with many a genre, delivering from Balearic-infused to experimental-driven cuts. For Citizens of Vice, he decided to explore his House, Jazz, Ambient, and Balearic influences, and the result is a must-have EP for the fans of classy tunes out there.

Premiered here, the title track is the most dance-floor-oriented from the release – imagine dance floors beside a beach or a swimming pool, though, no filthy and sweaty basement thoughts here. With an elegant piano layer and delicate guitar riffs, the theme evokes warm summer breezes and a strong craving for rum cocktails – preferably those with tiny umbrellas and pineapple slices as decoration.

PREMIERE288 // Nightdrive - Improvisation

DJ and producer Aleix Gimeno is releasing an exciting debut album, “MOVEMENT” on Edgar De Ramon's TUTU Records for his most recent moniker and artist project Gimenö. Since receiving the DJMag award for Best Spanish Dance Music Production in 2003, the Spanish-born, Berlin-based DJ has released and performed as Leix, hosting numerous parties in leading clubs across Europe and performing at festivals like Off Sonar and ADE. His new artist project serves as a playing ground to experiment and bring together the diverse influences acquired throughout his long-standing career. 

The debut LP stays true to his signature underground sound and explores the idea of movement through modulation and polyrhythmic beats for the feeling of constant motion. The work, made during the last four years to create for its own sake, emanates a certain playfulness and willingness to experiment. It incorporates aspects of electronica and techno and reflects the experimentation with different hardware synthesisers, modulars, analogue FX and the latest digital technology for an energetic and captivating release.

The track being premiered is a live rendition of the serene and melodic opening track “Ports”, which gradually builds over pulsing synths and wet plucks, modulated and reversed for a gentle ebb and flow motion. The title defines the source of inspiration; the Els Ports natural park near Aleix’s house where he goes to disconnect from the studio. The live rendition features a slightly faster re-composition of the track using the Elektron Octatrack to better fit the live context and opens directly with the drums and bass to throw us right into the midst of the energy.

Congellous, aka Stanley T Jones, grew up in Anglesey, North Wales where he was a member of a professional B-Boy crew. He cut his teeth on dance music frequenting clubs such as Quadrant Park in Liverpool, The Hacienda, Shelly's and The Eclipse (89/90). As a producer, Stanley became a part of the Nu School Breaks scene under several guises releasing as Orange Kush on Botchit & Scarper, as Jaguar on TCR and 60 Hz on Second Skin, with many releases under his belt. He has also remixed artists such as King Kooba and Ninja Tunes' DJ Food and went on to work with (Ex. Kooks) Max Rafferty band. He received support from the likes of DJ Mag, Mixmag, the late Andy Weatherall, Boy George, Mary Anne Hobbs, Tayo and Rob da Bank. As Congellous, Stanley continues to explore the deeper side of Electronica, fusing Deep House grooves and airy Tech flavoured synthology, whilst giving a little wink to yesteryear. He launched his own label Soba Records in 2016, and his releases such as 'Sputnik 2 EP’, ‘Are We Running Out Of Love' ft Jess Bishop, ’The Songlines EP’, 'Tell Me That You Love Me' and ‘Insominia’, received the thumbs up from Betoko, Booka Shade, Markus Enochson, Maceo Plex, Peter Kruder and many more.

Spanish producer, Logic Records label boss, and Roam Recordings alumni Javier Busto teams up with Mufti aka Bernardo Barrera (½ of Los Fugazzi) to deliver the Dosis EP. The release comes with two original versions and two remixes. The first version by Javier Busto is a driving track with rhythmic synth and arp work underpinning Mufti's sultry voice. The second version is from Mufti himself who adds guitars and a bit of grit. Up first on the remix is Azaria who returns to Roam to bring an epic summertime remix of the original. Rounding out the EP is a stripped down beat heavy version from Roam Recordings boss Jason Peters.
