Positive Podcast #05 - Pastel

This mixtape features tracks from the compilation "Tape One", set to be released on Monday, October 21. The tracks were mixed in the same order as the compilation's tracklist. This was crafted using both analog and digital processing: effects like the Space Echo and Specular Tempus were used to create smooth transitions between the tracks. Each track was played on CDJs at its original speed to preserve the original pitch and avoid artifacts caused by time-stretching algorithms.

Infused with jazzy grooves, soulful textures, and a distinctly playful spirit throughout, the album drifts through moods of acid-jazz and memories from the warmth and wit of neo-soul, reflecting on the push and pull of modern romance within the downtempo genre.

Digital Love (Vol.1) will be released digitally via Bandcamp on July 31st, 2025, with limited, pressed-to-order CDs available for collectors. The album will also arrive on all major streaming platforms later in the year.

Title track ‘Siberian Express’ begins blissfully with a hypnotic melody that leads into a deep swelling bass, a forceful beat and intricate layers of warbling keys. An epic breakdown rises from grumbling synths culminating with Jamie’s signature bassline and spacey stabs, as powerful builds fall in and out of play. On the flip, ‘Captain Kirk’s Battle Dance’ is solid and rolls with infectious looped basslines that steers through trippy FX. On a darker tip, ‘The 16th Floor’ is rich and deep with mesmerising synths, layered throughout over a tight groove. 

o+ Undoubtedly the pioneer of the new wave of house music, Jamie Jones is a force to be reckoned with. Alongside running Hot Creations and sub-label Hot Trax, Jamie has also started his new label Emerald City, which will release music with a greater crossover appeal. 2015 has brought forward a huge output of music from Jamie including a stunning collaboration with Kate Simko, London Electronic Orchestra and Jem Cooke on Emerald City followed by the next huge hit from his band Hot Natured called ‘Off World Lover’. Not to mention this impressive solo three tracker on Hot Creations. 

o+o Aside from spending hours in the studio and managing an intense touring schedule, Jamie also runs his night Paradise at DC10, arguably the most popular weekly night in Ibiza. Its safe to say there is no sign of slowing down for Jamie any time soon.
