I took an old Ukrainian folk song from the eastern and south regions as a foundation for this track. I learned the melody and lyrics from records of old ladies singing in a small village in Zaporizhia Oblast and then took the liberty to ornament and arrange it my way. 
As I type these words, Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers are fighting on those exact territories with russian occupiers to protect our independence. Про українське Полісся мало чого відомо, адже воно віками оповите  таїною: що саме коїться в тих безкраїх лісах, хто саме там жив і від чого втікав, що за мутації створила радіація і як там збереглися прадавні обряди та слова, ніхто точно вже не скаже. А от звуковий еквівалент усієї тої містики, того природнього організму, певної нейромережі з рослин, створив Віталій Литвинчук у своєму новому альбомі Polissia, що скоро вийде на Mystictrax. Зацінимо? 

Житель міста Кременчук, Віталій Литвинчук, як він вказав у своєму профілі, "155 bpm music maker and digital artist". Треки Eremite та Hadyatske Safari (+Standard Deviation) добре відомі слухачам лейблу, беруть своєю атипічністю та своєрідністю. Автор використовує особливу манеру створення музики, що дозволяє досягти ефекту живої музики, атональних каскадів та нового рівню ламаних ритмів. Віталій грає живі перформанси в рідному місті, а також брав участь в івентах Closer та Otel'. Ви могли бачити обкладинки релізів лейблу, що задизайнив саме Smezkh у 3D.

Nothing is known about Ukrainian Polissia! It has been shrouded in mystery for centuries: what exactly is happening in those boundless forests, who exactly lived there and what they fled from, what mutations radiation created, and how ancient rituals and words have been preserved there, no one can say for sure. But the sound equivalent of all that mysticism, that natural organism, a certain neural network made of plants, was created by Vitaliy Litvinchuk in his new album, which will be released soon on Mystictrax. Shall we rate it?

A resident of the city of Kremenchuk, Vitaly Lytvynchuk, as he stated in his profile, "155 bpm music maker and digital artist". The tracks Eremite and Hadyatske Safari (+Standard Deviation) are well known to the listeners of the label, they are taken for their atypicality and originality. The author uses a special way of creating music, which allows to achieve the effect of live music, atonal cascades and a new level of broken rhythms. Vitaly plays live performances in his hometown, and also participated in Closer and Otel' events. You could see the covers of the label's releases designed by Smezkh himself in 3D.

Kyiv-based label @mystictrax releases a new compilation on December 15th, "Code". As part of it, @demian-feriy explores the effect of Ukrainian folk instruments on the listener's fighting spirit in a new track called Combat Drugs. A short, but meaningful, atonal mixture of kobza, songs and god knows what else can bring the listener into a trance with its originality. "Code" compilation also includes tracks from Fadiant Futur, Sider, Kørper and many more. The album is dedicated to defenders of world democracy and common sense, military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Field Notes VA is a fundraising compilation with a difference, music with a backstory that gives a first-hand account of the unfolding events since the full-scale Russian invasion in real time, and presents an overview of the changing face of the Ukrainian music scene dictated by blackouts and curfew restrictions.

What started off as an ongoing series of interviews with Ukrainian artists for the experimental music website A Closer Listen has now become a book comprising all 170 interviews conducted over the course of a year mapping out the electronic and experimental scene in Ukraine.

All musicians involved were asked to submit a track composed after February 24, 2022 to mark its publication. The resulting material reflects the diaristic nature of the book and deals with PTSD, displacement, separation, and loss, and shows at the same time the strength and resilience of Ukrainian artists with a meditative and uplifting reach.

The track listing follows the chronological order of the interviews, switching from ambient and electronic to classical and experimental in a seemingly random fashion, but war is chaotic and shattering, or as Serhii Zhadan writes in Sky Above Kharkiv, “War sharply changes ways of seeing, changes feelings.” Ukrainian Field Notes is a testament to the shifting sonic and human landscape.

Ukrainian Field Notes VA - це благодійна фандрайзінгова компіляція, що відрізняється від інших, музика з передісторією, яка розповідає з перших вуст про події, що розгортаються з моменту повномасштабного російського вторгнення в режимі реального часу, і представляє огляд зміни обличчя української музичної сцени, продиктованої відключенням електроенергії та обмеженнями комендантської години.

Те, що починалося як серія інтерв'ю з українськими музикантами для сайту експериментальної музики A Closer Listen, тепер перетворилося на книгу, що містить усі 170 інтерв'ю, взятих протягом року, які окреслюють електронну та експериментальну сцену в Україні.

Щоб відзначити її публікацію, всім музикантам, які брали участь в інтерв'ю, було запропоновано надіслати трек, написаний після 24 лютого 2022 року. Отриманий матеріал відображає щоденниковий характер книги і стосується ПТСР, переміщення, розлуки та втрати, а також демонструє силу та стійкість українських митців з медитативним та піднесеним звучанням.

Трек-лист відповідає хронологічному порядку інтерв'ю, переходячи від ембієнту та електроніки до класики та експериментальної музики у, здавалося б, випадковий спосіб, але війна є хаотичною та руйнівною, або, як пише Сергій Жадан у "Небі над Харковом", "війна різко змінює способи бачення, змінює почуття". "Ukrainian Field Notes VA" - це свідчення мінливого звукового та людського ландшафту.
