I'm an independent curator based in Manchester and Co-Director of Instigate Arts CIC, an artist-led independent organization. Instigate Arts aims to create positive, progressive social change through arts production and participation and specifically focuses on curating, developing and producing exhibitions, events and festivals combining the arts, academia and activism and with cross-practice/sector/community collaboration.

As an independent practitioner and with Instigate Arts, I continuously seeks new collaborations and creative ways of exploring political, progressive and socially relevant issues. I have a particular interest in radical, feminist and queer culture and in social history, and often works with archives, experimental creativity and the digital to find new and innovative ways of connecting issues of the past to contemporary situations and states, and in utilising the arts to promote positive social conversation, debate and change.

I specialise in socially progressive, collaborative and often participatory exhibitions, events and publications which tend to combine the arts, academia and activism and which have a strong feminist, queer and activism element. For the past ten years I have worked on numerous exhibitions, festivals and projects with a large number of creative partners. I am also an editor and writer, and have written for a large number of national and independent newspapers and educational publications about the arts, feminism, gender and culture. I have also written and edited exhibition books and zines to accompany projects I've  curated.

“As an artist, I produce work which mirror these concerns. My practice tends to focus on sound based and text based work. I also consider my curatorial practice part of the art I produce.”
