Punch Drunk refers to the dizziness when fighters get rocked, pretty much resembles to the numbness after five six Vodka shots. We borrowed this concept to name our compilation, hoping it delivers the same experience aurally and emotionally even without Vodka. So that you may keep your feet on the ground when the real punch comes. As Buddhism says, "All sufferings are caused by omissions.” All those omissions (joys and sorrows to put it simple) are punches to our life, where all our false satisfaction and desperation are punch drunk. Wish we can stay sober, or just straight out get a "punch drunk".

Punch Drunk指的是在格斗比赛或现实中被重拳击中产生的眩晕感，就像是一口干掉一杯伏特加后对整个世界都失去了知觉。我们借用这个概念来命名这张合辑，是希望让每个人即使不喝伏特加，也能够在听感和情绪上体会punch drunk。等到哪一天真的迎来一记“punch”时，希望你能站稳。就像佛教所讲的有漏皆苦, 所有的“漏”（简单理解为过喜或悲的情绪）都是一记punch，我们对生活的所有虚假的满足与绝望也是punch drunk，希望我们能保持清醒，否则就干脆享受punch drunk吧。

A sweltering entity pierces the veil of our atmosphere, a shimmering light echoes a warning of its arrival.

Exploited Body returns to Changeless with their earth-shattering two track EP. 'Collapsar' is a high-octane, howling, extraterrestrial banger caving in on itself, with its relentless drums and harrowing screeches clawing their way into the physical realm. 'Syrtis' is a deceptive slow-burner that halfway through the track reassembles itself in double-time through hyperactive breaks and disjointed rhythms.

’Collapsar / Syrtis’ will be released 11th November via Changeless.

‘Soul Cooking’ is the debut EP by Martini, moniker of American multimedia artist Marnie Pagter. Built-in parallel to their visual works, the release was inspired by a wide conglomeration of disparate sources and genres, which were channelled together as a cleansing exercise.

Their fervent production engulfs the viewer with an arcane sound palette that alludes to a story of introspection. A sense of paradoxical juxtaposition lies at the base of the EP, which guides the viewer through a tumultuous journey of beauty and discomfort. The whole release is marked by haunting vocals which are paired together with grating percussion to create a cacophonic mixture of emotions.

For the first output from an ongoing exchange between East Africa and East Asia, via collectives Nyege Nyege/Hakuna Kulala (Kampala - Uganda) and SVBKVLT (Shanghai – China), we are excited to present ‘Slip A’ and ‘Slip B’, two Eps made during Slikback’s China tour/residency in April 2019.

After making first contact online in late 2018 and subsequently meeting up at CTM festival, Berlin, in January 2019, Nyege Nyege and SVBKVLT founded the beginning of a long term project exploring collaborations between East-Africa and East-Asia based artists.

For the first stage of the project, SVBKVLT invited Kenyan producer Slikback to China for a 3-week tour and residency in April 2019. During these 3 weeks, Slikback performed in 5 cities (Shenzhen, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Beijing), spending time in the studio with artists throughout the tour. The results of these studio sessions are now being presented in the form of two Eps, to be released simultaneously across the two labels Hakuna Kulala and SVBKVLT on September 6th, coinciding with Nyege Nyege Festival 2019, Jinja – Uganda, at which Slikback and 2 of the collaborators, Hyph11E and 33EMYBW, will perform.

‘Slip B’

The second EP, entitled ‘Slip B’, is a 5 track EP from Slikback and Hyph11E, consisting of 3 collaborative tracks as well as a remix exchange of the artists' previously released works. During his China tour, Slikback spent the majority of the time in Shanghai, spending 3 intense days in the studio with Hyph11E. As well as presenting these works at Nyege Nyege 2019, Slikback and Hyph11E will play an exclusive b2b set at Unsound Krakow in October 2019. ‘Slip B’ will be released via SVBKVLT on September 6th 2019.

Slikback & Hyph11E - USINGIZI

We're delighted to be premiering a track from 'Out Of Fashion Boys Vol.1', the debut compilation from the newly-minted, Beijing-based "more than music" label of the same name (@oofb).

Previously Out Of Fashion Boys founders Luxixi  and TsingLung helmed party and label THUVDR. Through their new outlet, the pair hope to "practice creativity in more diverse domains" and offer more than just club music.

The compilation – which features an all-star cast of experimenters and previous party guests like Air Max '97, GORO, Merca Bae, False Witness, Ase Manual and more – sees all involved drawing inspiration from the city as well as wider Chinese regions. On 'Tongue Twister', Shanghai's @zeanmusic paints a vivid sonic picture of the Chinese capital.

"Oppressed, submerged, but packed with tremendous energy — that is how Out of Fashion Boys feels about Beijing as a city," says the label, "as well as the way it defines itself."

'Out Of Fashion Boys Vol.1' will be released on December 19. Cop it below.
