The Cold Busted label returns with German producer Krystian Shek for the new album&nbsp;Destroy &amp; Rebuild V2. Krystian appeared on the scene in 2003 with his first of three artist albums on the late Pete Namlook&rsquo;s FAX +49&ndash;69/450464 label. Impressively prolific, other albums appeared on labels such as the Indonesian imprint UTC Wired and Diventa Recordings while singles have found their way onto Berettamusic and previous Cold Busted releases. Destroy &amp; Rebuild V2 takes on world influences matched with sharply percussive downtempo beats. Highlights include the sweet sounds found sifting through the South East Asia-inspired "Soi Honey," the funky breaks, spaced-out Middle East synth melodies, and grinding bass line that make up "Muammar Al Gaddafi," and the glitchy acid-tinged "Sunshine." The latter wouldn't feel out of place as the theme to a dramatic special agent movie scene shot in some exotic location (music licensors for action films take note). A solid collection.

Conceived in Athens, Greece, The Blue Square is the duo of Radim (Vasilis Sourais) and Radical (Christos Volotas) who have come together with a love of noir atmospheres, old spy films, and dusted, jazzy beats. Since their beginnings in 2010, The Blue Square have been making waves with their explorations into instrumental hip hop, nu-jazz, and trip hop, and earned slots DJ’ing alongside Wax Tailor, ASM - A State Of Mind, Bonobo, and Gramatik. Paul Cheeba of Morcheeba is also a fan, premiering a track by The Blue Square on the widely listened to Trip Hop Nation podcast. 

The pair’s self-titled debut album – and their first release on vinyl – has been issued by Greek label Melting Records and delivers heaps of cinematic vibes and crucial rhythms. The Blue Square have expressed a desire to create ‘soundtracks for imaginary films’ and their album certainly fits the bill. “Believe’, the opening cut, quickly sets the tone with a heavy lounge feel wrapped in vibraphone melodies, saxophone riffs, and classic beats. “Tic Toc” mashes together a number of styles and sounds, featuring desert guitars, vintage keys, and hip hop vocal drops over some seriously dope drums. “Mama”, with vocalist Esterina, showcases the diversity of the crew, as it’s a deliciously jazzy vocal number that transports the listener to a nostalgic club scene while firmly rooted in its contemporary base. 

These are just a few highlights from the eleven track album, and the different moods and sounds provide an infectious ‘sonic film’ from The Blue Square’s imagination. Dive in and drift away.

Brighton based 2econd Class Citizen makes folk music for the digital age. Sometimes psychedelic, often complex and always moving, his sound is hard to define but easy to fall in love with. 

With a series of critically acclaimed releases garnering praise from luminaries such as Ninja Tune legend DJ Food (who went so far as to invite him to collaborate on a track for his own album),  2econd Class Citizen’s music has long been astounding listeners in all corners of the globe. Cementing the affection of his loyal following through frequent European Tours and remixes for artists such as The Herbaliser, Dj Food & Dday One. His new record A Hall of Mirrors, on Dday One’s US label Content Records, is his most accomplished music to date… 

Produced and recorded in the disparate locations of his hometown of Brighton (UK) and Innsbruck (Austria), it features collaborations with a succession of underground heroes such as Mykah 9 (Freestyle Fellowship),  Canadian singer Graciellita and Bobbie Watson from psych folk legends Comus. In addition it features an array of talented Austrian and Uk musicians on Piano, Cello, Violin and guitar… 
The album builds on his trademark sound - lush instrumentation, dusty break-beats and shimmering melodies that veer from ethereal to menacing with surprising deftness. 

A Hall of Mirrors is the latest instalment in a distinguished career spanning over a decade. Highlights include his astonishing debut album A World Without, released on DJ Scientist’s Equinox Records (Berlin) featuring singer/songwriter Ceschi Ramos from the US and rapper/wordsmith James Reindeer. A Gate-fold 12” vinyl release of his second album The Small Minority followed, and an array of EP’s, limited edition vinyl postcards and digital releases such as his ongoing “Old Folk Wine” series of psych-folk re edits. 

In his live sets 2econd Class Citizen recreates the complexity and depth of orchestration he has become known for, using sound editing software, live drumming and scratching to keep a strong improvisational aspect, and often embellishing performances with the introduction of guest musicians and vocalists. 

In addition to frequent European Tours with the likes of Ceschi, Glen Porter & Buddy Peace he has performed at festivals including Glastonbury and Soundwave (Croatia), sharing stages with the likes of Hidden Orchestra, Buck 65, B Dolan, Dj Food, Loka, Dosh, The Q4, Gong and many more.
