Heavy afro-tinged sounds this week from Leeds-based leftfield party crew Cave Paintings. Taking us on a journey through psychedelic tribal disco that doesn't sound out of place in a steamy rain forest or on desert plains, their unique style has led them to curate the Dogon Village area at Festival No.6; where the thick tangled woods and trippy jungle sounds add to the ethereal atmosphere they create. We team up next Friday to bring ESP Institute's Young Marco over from Amsterdam for a debut show. Full details here:

We all know what cave paintings are, though few of us are likely to ever need them when we're asking for directions to the nearest cash machine or need the number of a speedy takeaway service. Perhaps for most of us the idea of a cave painting has become a little outdated along with fax machines and Lady Gaga. However, there are a group of people determined to make the good name of Cave Paintings rise to the forefront of our minds once more by using it as the name for their small group of DJs, producers and promoters. We too are keen to back the return of this ancient art and therefore asked them to provide us with this 'Gathered Neatly On A Thin Raft' mix. Coming up this February we're delighted to be hosting one of three parts of our artist led record label Houndstooth's third birthday celebrations. In fact, we don't say it enough but we're just as proud of everything the two Robbies and Leo have achieved over the course of these three short years. Houndstooth will be hitting Berghain in Berlin on Friday 26th February after taking over our Room Two where they've invited Dave Clarke, Call Super, Marquis Hawkes and Second Storey all to rep the club focused edge of the label's aesthetic.

Ortac Genc is a Turkish Dj/Producer with very diverse and global inspirations. Currently, he is focusing on his new Indie Dance project Fat&Bald. His influences are mainly Dark Disco, Synth Wave, New Wave,  Italo Disco and Ebm. And how to leave Breakbeat and Leftfield aside?

He appeared on magnificent Berlin based label Ombra International March, 2020 and feeling the joy of releasing his first EP, Parallel Dimensions, with visionary UK based Nein Records. His first EP quickly reached Top 5 status in the Beatport Top 10 Releases charts. 

Music came to Ortac early in life where he started playing bass guitar and up-right bass. His love for the stage comes from connecting with live audiences as he played with various Rock bands for over a decade. He decided to combine his roots in Rock and Classical music with electronic music after his sound design training in New York City. This is why Fat&Bald can be easily distinguished by organic elements brought into the songs by silky guitars, hardware synthesizers and extraordinary fx's.

Ortac describes his creative process as closing his eyes to imagine himself on stage with a live band playing towards a crowd of electronic music lovers. Bringing two great worlds together. 

He recently collaborated with talented producers @gunceaci and @javiermartinezmx and worked on remixes for incredible producers like @backfromthewave, @gunceaci, @javier_busto, @from_beyond, and @funboys. He is looking forward to meet his fans and perform live in another club or festival soon.
