A year and a half after @Black-Merlin (George Thompson) opened the Common Thread series with the much praised New World Fantasy / Ice House release George sent over some adventurous bits for a follow up and we were immediately sold. George is a true artist in his own right. All of the Black Merlin tracks evoke different sentiments. This time around the feeling it bring up is very conflicted. Both tracks have those dark aesthetics with elements of paranoia and both also share some apocalyptic elements. 
It is for this reason that this is the perfect follow up for CT01. 

Instead of just releasing music on vinyl we (with the blessings of Zoroaster) are looking to evoke spirits, cross boundaries and maintain quality. Major cliche's, but with an artist like Black Merlin on your books, Cliche's sometimes become truth. 

COMMONTHREAD04 - Black Merlin - Burn It / Experiments In The Dark will be available on Limited heavyweight vinyl from Late May/June 2015.

In quick succession to ARCS-03, which boasted remixes by The Mover, Shifted and Peder Mannerfelt, Cassegrain keep up the pressure with a new EP of originals on ARCS-04.

Returning to their tunnelling hypnotic trademark sound over three focused, club-ready trips, the Arcing Seas heads channel varied and irrepressible moods into each track. Built on solid dancefloor foundations and rich in colourful, non-conventional sound design, they scan through tribal ritualism with A side 'Shahmaran', moving to the pumping urgency of 'Caracal' and the rolling post-acid workout of 'Vulpine'.

ARCS-04 is a straight-up DJ-friendly 12'', something that's conveyed in the record’s more minimalist artwork.

Here you can find names like: Disrute, Lithuanian duo – “Siaubas”, Dane//Close, and of course – Kris Baha! We are representing this EP with our colleagues from Vilnius – “Siaubas”. Guys are residents of one of the best club in the country – “Opium club”. This is one of “PC 003” tracks – “Haunted White Paper”. Dark, slow and boggy… We like it so much! Enjoy!

First song of the 42-days project

Composing for the dance performance ‘Into the Light’. This scene is about the sacred geometry present in Vedic culture and the Classical Indian dance: ‘Bharata Natyam’. Also present in the art of Sufism.
Trying to create a song that sounds ‘calculated’ and perpetual. Using the fibonacci scale (up till 34 and without the 0 at the start so: 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34). Together these form 88 beats that form a circle consisting of 8 parts of 11. So: 8x11. 
Why 8? If you put 8 on it’s side it becomes the sign for infinity. Is it a coincidence that this is the 8th scene of the performance..?! The original sequence of Fibonacci starts with 0. Also a number symbolising infinity.

In this song 3 cycles of 88 beats overlap. The drawing shows the different cycles. Each one starting at 1,1 (Ta Ka) with the colour red. (sound in accents of the kalimba) And overlapping creating blends of colours.

So far the calculation! Of this head-born soundtrack. Can’t wait to see how the full scene will look with the dancers and video projections to come. Some collaborations with other musicians ahead as well!

Known as 'The Born Entertainer', Dwayne Jensen is one of the key artists who helped to shape the Detroit House sound and the new evolution of music we now call Techno.

A self-taught DJ, musician, producer and writer, the Detroit-born native started off as a Jazz drummer & percussionist before gaining respect worldwide as one of the true Detroit superstars.

We are also delighted that Geoff Pesche from Abbey Road Studios is back on the mastering and has worked his alchemy on the release.

B2: My People - Disco Nights Mix: Finishing the EP off with a bang, we are over-the-moon to be re-releasing the all-time classic, 'My People'. Originally released five years ago on a 12" compilation album, which only ever made a small run, it's high time this track was given a full release.

Fun, infectious and uplifting, if this isn't the track to get a party started, I don't know what is. This solid EP mixes a delicious slice of past and present, and is a rare record not to be missed. Play it loud!
