Sonic Diary 2022 (Disquiet0574)

This weeks first for the New Year, Haiku reminded me of the fierce mini-tornado like rain wind and hail storm we endured here just recently.. a very dramatic cool change or brief respite in some  hot weather .. no sonification processes harmed in the making of this piece just an interpretation using Metasynth to make other than human sounding microtonal scale of randomised harmonics, pulses of hail and rain, sweeps and gusts of rain.

Disquiet Junto Project 0578: Rabbit Spirit Ally
The Assignment: Make music for Lunar New Year.

Step 1: Note that this year’s Chinese zodiac animal is the rabbit.

Step 2: Take the rabbit as your temporary musical spirit ally, and make music inspired by it. (Alternately, choose the Chinese zodiac animal of your birth year.)

Eight Important Steps When Your Track Is Done:

Step 1: Include “disquiet0578” (no spaces or quotation marks) in the name of your tracks.

Step 2: If your audio-hosting platform allows for tags, be sure to also include the project tag “disquiet0578” (no spaces or quotation marks). If you’re posting on SoundCloud in particular, this is essential to subsequent location of tracks for the creation of a project playlist.

Step 3: Upload your tracks. It is helpful but not essential that you use SoundCloud to host your tracks.

Metal Study #21

A Secret Place

Welcome again to the juke-joint of my mind.  This is an improv based on a theme that I've been playing for a bit.  It is impromptu and my ideas sometimes exceed my chops; accordingly, as rough and spontaneous as a juke-joint Saturday night.

One of my all times piano favs is a Chicago blues immortal - Jimmy Yancey.  Godfather of the boogie-woogie form, although generally slower and "melodic" - at least to me.  Additionally, he had the sweetest, most-tender, knowing eyes this side of Albert Einstein.  As the piece developed I realized this was a tribute to Yancey - no way I could copy him -even if I wanted to - but his presence presided over the recording.
