DJ Saffron has become a familiar name on the South Coast, known for bringing proper rolling vibes to every Deeper Drum & Bass event. His sets blend warm liquid, deep grooves and heavier moments in a way that feels effortless, always keeping the room locked in and moving. Teaming up with MC Shadow has become part of his signature sound, smooth vocals, tight mixing and a real connection with the crowd. Saffron isn’t trying to be flashy; he just plays the tunes he loves and lets the music do the talking.

Broadcasting from the South West of the UK expect a lot of jungle, dub, hardcore and sounds loosely termed "rave".  The more "left field" the better and our selectors try to bring a few less heard cuts to the mix. We love the roots of the scene, respecting  the forefathers and mothers of the music so we'll be dropping some classics  in with the new tracks pushing bass music forward. Alongside the above genres we can't miss out on a good tune so  you'll also hear  acid house, balearic , house and their  evolutionary  offspring  like trip hop, dubstep, d&b, UK Garage and more...

I’ve been deep into drum & bass since the early 1990s, with LTJ Bukem and all the artists, too many to mention, shaping much of my musical taste and inspiration. Under the alias Montana—a nod to the spray paints my friends used in the Graff scene—I released a track featured on PHD & DRS – Ascendant Moods / Ascendant Grooves back in 1999. The track, Deep Down, was named in homage to MC Conrad. Now 50, I’m still driven by the same love for atmospheric, soulful, and progressive D&B.

Christal is the co/owner of the prominent Drum & Bass label - Smooth N Groove Records alongside Clen. The label is based out of Northampton, UK and Washington DC, USA. Smooth N Groove Records launched in May 2016 opening with their first release, Jrumhand’s Beaches & Countryside.

Appropriately named Soul Deep vs Smooth N Groove, representing artists from both labels to perform at their events. They have also taken the Soul Deep vs Smooth N Groove brand to the west & east coasts of America hosting events in Los Angeles at Respect, Stamina, San Francisco, and Mosaic, Baltimore.

The next Soul Deep vs Smooth N Groove is planned to take place at Club 43, Northampton, UK, on June 21st 2025
