July 2025 mix

After visiting the lakeside dreamland last year I couldn't help myself but imagine on the moment what I would play if I had the opportunity to perform there myself (as any DJ would, I guess). I had different archetypes of sets forming in the back of my mind for different times of the day possible, if the opportunity ever came one day. 
So when I got invited to play the opening of Floresta on Sunday, it first came as a bit of a surprise, but the surprise turned into excitement and it was time to prepare a special set where I could dig into my dub techno collection. 
So, I am very happy to share with you the recording of my set, where I finally had the chance to play slow, deep, dubby and sunny techno in such a setting.

On this EP, 393AD continues to explore the grey-area in between introspective yet driving techno, an area in which 393AD’s well-received debut ‘Doctrine EP’ left such an impression. The Amsterdam-based artist playful use of sound-design and storytelling adaptations of live hardware jams are once more an excellent foundation for his second release, solidifying the distinctive sound of the artist on this young label.

For our twenty-eighth instalment, we welcome Seb H., a UK-born DJ and producer now based in Rotterdam. He delivers a live recording of his vinyl-only closing set, captured on the 14th of November at one of Rotterdam’s most renowned venues, Perron.

In recent years, Seb has become deeply embedded in the city’s music community through his work with both Operator and Triple Vision Record Distribution. His sound is also resonating beyond Rotterdam, earning him bookings at the infamous Laak Club, as well as appearances for Amsterdam’s notorious techno institution Ratherlost.

Earlier this year, he released his debut EP on DJ Wiggles’ imprint Kinetic; a record defined by deep sub-bass weight and experimental percussive textures, marking him as a producer to watch.

Opener ‘Gravitational’ pulsating beats are a strong anchor for slowly unfolding harmonic stabs and a strong centrifugal energy. Glimmering patterns unfold as an umbrella; a projectile shoots past; the aftermath of a near-collision - there’s no running from this mind-gazing adventure.

On the same side ‘Technological’ pushes on with dramatic effect as noise interlocks with serenity. A devious and mesmerising track.

The flip starts off with ‘Mechanical’, the final clever contribution to this EP by 393AD. Propulsive kicks and startling low-end call & responses manifest infectious hooks and rhythmic interplay. This track is as serious as it is facetious.

Finalising this EP is Maasym’s remix of ‘Gravitational’. Building on the urgent dynamics of the original, Maasym conjures a magical field of rhythm, intertwining the original with his own energetic pulses. Culminating finally in a compelling resurgence of the original’s main stab.
