The Message is the Massage is a complex project that grew out of an assignment in an online laboratory and residency Unthinking/Unlearning.

At the request of the tutor Julia Glukhova, the participants of Found Sounds class shared field recordings that could be considered a message, a letter. After discussion at the seminar and explanation by all the participants about what their messages were, the idea came up to collect not only sound, but also textual material to create an interactive novel. The participants’ questionnaire is a table in which, according to the structuralist approach to the utterance, the elements of a business letter are presented: salutation, addresser, addressee, medium, purpose of the message and the complimentary close.

For The Message is the Massage I have made the mixtape of very dissimilar recordings of 13 participants; Alexander Agafonov processed collected texts and generated pictures into an interactive novel; Tatiana Danilevskaya was in charge of conceptual binding of the project and connecting everyone and forcing to collaborate.

In addition, we could not help but refer to two best sellers by Herbert Marshall McLuhan — Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man and The Medium is the Massage.

Nekonceptualniy mixtape

3_a is the project of Minsk-based sound enthusiast Anton Anishchanka.

Anton 3_a is a field recordings artist and electronic music composer. Member of electro-acoustic projects, as well as laboratories and residences based on field recordings.
In his own production, he uses analog synthesizers built on transistors from the 80s, which give depth to the sound. As well as field recordings made during sound expeditions, and archival recordings of Belarusian folk, which are attributed to the origins and speak for themselves.
It is difficult to give a specific genre description of the music, but it is somewhere in the boundaries of drone and ambient with elements of folklore.
With the same vision, 3_a as a DJ plays all his sets on vinyl.
