The debut co-op release by DIRTY GLASSEZ and N95 brings together the best of both worlds, combining a melancholic atmosphere with ghetto tech/footwork aesthetics.

CLOUDTEK reworks the aesthetics of the digital positivity and glossy futurism of the 2000s into a more mature, minor key form. Simple ringtone vaporwave melodies take on a thoughtful sound, shimmering in an ambient haze. Drums borrowed from ghetto genres add a special energy to the music.

At the intersection of two extremes — lively ghetto and airy futurism — cloudtek emerged, manifesting itself in a scattering of contradictory genres

Perko aka Fergus Jones landed on our radar (and many others) with his debut record NV Auto, released on Numbers last year. We’re honored to have him join the Motion Cast for volume 39, where he explores rhythms and textures that feel adjacent to his own music; club minded with an attention to subtlety that makes for an engaging listen on and off the dance floor.

Chambre Noire is proud to present its second record: an EP by Québecois artist Vromb, a veteran producer around since the mid-90s, known in particular for his releases on Ant-Zen. Over the course of five tracks on vinyl (six in the digital version), the artist’s sounds seem to take on physical shapes, like living origami: constantly mutating as they open, close and transform into something else. With attention to movement and boundary-challenging textures, this EP is ready to ensnare listeners in a variety of contexts, from club environments to more contemplative environments.

Insect and fluid electronics on the second EP from Melbourne’s Third Space. Six IDM-tinged forceful grooves, straddling the intersection of smoke-choked nightclubs and homebound speaker stacks.

‘Zones 1 Through To 4’: Chaotic modular workouts and uneasy time signatures meet drum ‘n bass. Swirling and hypnotic, catch your breath.

‘Six at 148’: Peak-time, neon-haze confusion with an oozing bassline. Third Space finds the perfect kick and adds four more.

Resonant experimentation, ringing ears and broken steel – uniquely honest, deliberate and effective.

Stochastic Percussive Workout Part 1

Curated by Montreal based producer, Jean Grünewald (who goes under the alias ottoman.grüw) and online magazine, Mes Enceintes Font, 'Montreal Dances Across Borders' brings together the best from Montreal's underground dance scene, raising money for good causes and highlighting the principles of solidarity and unity that underpin dance music culture.

Although the compilation is available for free download, MDAB ask for pay-as-you-feel donations, raising money for 'Solidarity Across Borders'. Active since 2003, Solidarity Across Borders are a migrant network based in Montreal. Together they mobilise to support individuals and families who experience unjust treatment within the immigration and refugee system.

We have the first listen on Aquaventure's 'Expanding Uncertainty'; a name that feels particularly poignant. White noise dissonance, watery textures and distorted whispers give way to a punchy arrangement driven by bubbling robotics. A looping simulation of sorts, 'Expanding Uncertainty' is a clear representation of music as an art form.

"This mix is a brief showcasing of music and sound art by friends, colleagues, influences, and artists with whom I have had the pleasure to work with over the years. The music I have made and released to date would not exist in its current form if it were not for some of the artists on this setlist. Whether it be friends/artists that I have directly worked with, interacted with, and collaborated with (J.S. Curley, Tony Panella, Spirituals, Robert Cole Rizzi, Pas Moi, DR, Mark Waldron-Hyden, Vitaly Maklakov, Andy Klingensmith); artists that have been generous in helping me bring my visions to life via the physical and visual mediums (Vitaly Maklakov, Thaniel Ion Lee, J.S. Curley); artists whose work I have had the pleasure and honor of releasing on my humble netlabel Warm Milk Recordings (Andy Klingensmith, Daniel J. Gregory, Tony Panella); or artists whose work has simply inspired me (Uneasy Chairs, Erinome, and every other artist already listed here), your work has helped shape the art that I make. This mix is dedicated to you.  

The mix encompasses a vast variety of experimental styles ranging from electroacoustic sound art, ambient music, field recordings, noise worship, and everything in between. The styles heard on this mix can not only be seen as a list of inspirations but also as a sort of mirror image to the sonic pallet that I present on my upcoming tape on the Enmossed label, "Lignum Muzek." Ever since deciding to start making albums under my given name, my vision has always been to create compositions that enter many different sonic territories, even within the duration of a single piece, and to weave these pallets together in a narrative-like fashion. I was able to take one step closer towards this vision with the creation of Lignum Muzek, especially on longform title track pieces which can almost be seen as miniature mixes of their own. This mix opened a door for me to impose my creative mixing style on artists whose music helped me to form my style to begin with, thus creating an endless loop of interconnected, communal, inspiration and sound that will forever be feeding back on itself, flourishing, and growing. "
