The latest release on Madloch's 3rd Avenue imprint finds the label showcasing the ninth edition of their popular 'Three Of A Kind' series. These VA EP releases feature three producers who contribute two originals, with the end result being a unique amalgamation of sound, something which has now become synonymous with the Sound Avenue affiliate. Invited to showcase their talents for the ninth edition are artists from Argentina, Australia and the United States respectively. The release opens with the Figueras brothers, who recently debuted on the label's 'We Are The Future' compilation. Marley Hughes is another rising talent who makes his label debut here, while Doktor Hyde from the USA has already notched releases on ICONYC & Neele Records. Enjoy!

Alpine craftsmanship combines with Argentinean talent as The Wash and Ric Niels provide a new global partnership between Europe and South America. Through "Argaut", flexible rhythmic grooves ease their way atop throbbing beat and urgent bassline whilst silky pads add counterweight. Striking arp phrasing melts into hypnotic patterns before "Remote Madness" find a way to back to lucidity. A meteor-sized kick thumps its way across the plains; from Höflein to Tres Isletas where acid sequences morph across the sonic landscape, pausing for breath in a serene breakdown. The smooth undertones of "11.247" shimmer in undulating patterns and a moment of uplifting joy transcends geographical barriers. A melodic force ripples in concentric circles; rising and falling in effortless waves, it creates exquisite aural artefacts of blissful intensity.

Itaka stands for ‘influence’. On this album you can hear the different influences cities, countries, styles and artists had on me. In the 20 years I’m DJing and producing I developed my taste in music by traveling the world, meeting new people, seeing old friends and listening to new artists but also the living legends among us, which I tried to translate into this album. 

I began producing the album early 2020 in Prague, right after my last gig before the lockdown. And now, things in clubland are opening up little by little and it’s time to get it out in the open…

Sound Avenue begins the new year by showcasing new interpretations of Madloch & Subnode’s ‘Lion’s Mane’. Originally landing in March of last year it marked the Belgian imprints 100th release. Backed by remixes from Navar and Bookwood, the project earned praise from progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J. It continued what has been a creative partnership between the Belgian artists, ultimately leading to new studio experiments due out later this year. Sound Avenue now re-visits the duo’s ‘Lion’s Mane’, by inviting Dmitry Molosh and B.A.X. to re-interpret the track for 2020.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of ‘Lion’s Mane’ is Dmitry Molosh. The Belarus based artist continued to dominate the progressive music landscape in 2019, showcasing his music on Beatfreak Recordings, Beat Boutique, Replug and Sudbeat Music. Now getting the new year underway in fine fashion Dmitry delivers a powerful rendition of ‘Lion’s Mane’. Always a creative remixer, the Belarus native deconstructs the main elements into something decidedly more progressive minded, for what sits as an ideal complement to the original. Atop a tough, punchy foundation comes buzzing stabs and striking percussion, resulting in a unique contrast of character and groove. It’s a remarkable sonic marriage, one which makes for a hugely energetic journey, elegantly peaking through an emotive break, before an exhilarating final act puts a cap on this chugging gem.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Lion’s Mane’ is B.A.X. The Vietnamese artist has found a home on Sound Avenue subsidiary 3rd Avenue where he has appeared three times. Also laying claim to releases on Droid9, fryhide and MNL, B.A.X. now makes his much-anticipated Sound Avenue debut with a gorgeous take on ‘Lion’s Mane’. Timeless and haunting in equal measure, it’s unique beat pattern, ghostly wails and melodic fragments make for a compelling intro. It’s free flowing narrative builds on a more esoteric slant as impassioned pads and scintillating arps converge as the break commences. Tasteful pianos and icy overlays make for an emotive interlude, resonating on a profound level and perfectly transferring energy into a glowing finale. A stunning remix from B.A.X., rounding out a superb remix edition for Madloch, Subnode and Sound Avenue to begin the new year.

Exclusive: Priorat - Transgènic (Marc Piñol Remix)

Barcelona-based imprint Vondreib Records readies the long overdue second release, Transonàmbul,  from Catalan producer and Hivern Discs regular Priorat. The four tracker is provided with two original takes, namely Sonàmbul and Transgènic, coming with a remix for each take. While  Sonàmbul is taken care of by Velmonda, it's Hivern Discs mainstay Marc Piñol who gets his hands on the already dance floor oriented Transgènic and – without being too anticipatory – delivers a remix that is so subtle charming its listeners that one would not realize how deeply you are soaked into Piñol's continuous psychedelic musical cosmos until the track lets go. With Acid-ish bleeps taking the lead and intriguing pan-flute like synths as well as 'water dropping from the stalagmites of a limestone cave'-sounds all alternating throughout the track, Transgènic's organic and natural vibe flatters the dark dance floor in the most humble yet decently sophisticated manner and let's you imagine yourself moving to the bass line in the spheres of cosmic grandeur with closed eyes. 

Priorat's EP Transonàmbul will be released on Vondreib Records on July 13th, 2020.

After listening to Fenge's originals of "Ab“ and "Fallen“ Bookwood instantly knew he had to remix these two! The outcome are two unalike pieces: While "Ab (Bookwood Remix)" is a warm driving melodic piece with attention to details, the remix for "Fallen“ appears to be more rough and straight forward with breakbeat elements which open up with a beautiful and warm synth melody.
