Composer REACTS started life as an artistic response to the (now old-fashioned) idea of a manifesto, and what form 21st century manifesti might take as polemical reactions to current social, economic and/or environmental issues. Numerous movements were hypothesised, complete with their imagined manifesti, and six survived as productive starting points for the process of searching for audio and graphic samples to generate music and artwork. 

After These Messages uses samples and tropes derived from TV and social media advertising to create tracks lying somewhere between composition, improvisation and non-functional marketing that would be of no use to any corporation, ever. 

Prerequisites to successful marketing campaigns commonly include: 

1. Having a product to sell; 
2. Clear and precise messaging; 
3. Not making your potential customers listen to the sound of someone using the toilet 
for 8 minutes; 
4. Not burning the customer’s face. 

After These Messages meets none of these requirements. The production of this release currently runs at a loss.

With this track I would like to pay tribute to one of my favourite ambient artists. When I started to get interested in the darker side of ambient music a few years ago, Cesar Alexandre aka Mount Shrine was one of my first discoveries. To my sadness, this unique ambient artist passed away much too early in April 2021 from Covid19. For me he was always a musical bridge between the warmer, brighter and the colder, darker aspects of ambient. I was and still am deeply touched by his incredibly sentimental masterpieces full of drone magic and rainy landscapes. Of course, this is not even remotely a comparison or an imitation of his music - that's not my place and not my style. I just want to put the feelings that his music makes me feel into my own sounds and melodies - that's how this song came about.

Your music will always be a part of my musical world - thank you for that. RIP Cesar.
