I had two thoughts yesterday (which is a pretty good day for me, at my age.)  

1.  After seeing the video for "Lunch" by Billie Eilish on YouTube, I thought "Why can't Interbay make a song like that?"  

2.  I really like The Dare, and I love the production work that The Dare has done for Charlie XCX (including the version of "Guess" which Billie Eilish features on) and I thought, "Why can't Interbay make a song like The Dare?"  

Well, today's posted track is what came from those thoughts--and it sounds nothing like either "Lunch" or The Dare.  

It sounds (say it with me) like Interbay.  

Though neither was specifically planned, this track includes the "Pharell intro" repeatedly, and there are parts where the combination of synths sounds a lot like "Once In a Lifetime" by the Talking Heads--at least to me.

I was trying to keep things simple--but, as usually, I couldn't resist throwing a couple of color dabs at various layers of this musical painting.  I think the end result is still not as busy as most Interbay efforts.

Ooh, there's a lot of dark bass on this track.  I kept having to force myself to add something--anything--in the midrange or higher, as my brain kept instinctively moving towards the left side of the keyboard.  

One of the unexpected consequences of that compulsion towards the low end, is that what I thought would be the source of the name for this track--the electronic sounding voice you'll hear repeatedly throughout the track--is pretty hard to pick out, unless you know hat you're listening for...  

The track was going to be called "Carry The Torch"--and that's what those distorted vocals are singing.  

Instead, it was a battle between "Ghost Of Your Memories" and, what I ended up with, "How Can I Move On?"  

Both felt really "on the nose"--but, that's not the worst thing about a song title, is it?  (And considering how often I'll make the obscure choice when it comes to track titles, it feels like a nice change of pace.)  

If you're wondering where the opening movie sample comes from, the thumbnail will give you your only clue.  As always, IYKYK.  

It might not seem like the bars in the break relate directly to the narrative of the main vocals, but I think they do...or, my brain can construct something cohesive out of the two elements.  Your mileage may vary, of course.
