Once, just barely old enough to party, Yontzie fell in love with the ever-evolving underground music scene that Calgary has to offer. Starting as many do, just a causal listener, the love of the sound rooted itself deep within him. It couldn't have been long before making the decision to get in front of the decks himself. From humble beginnings, he was spinning low-end Dubstep and Reggae sounds rooted in Dub music. Yontzie fell in love with the energy and diversity of the world of Drum and Bass, a match clearly meant to be. From there, he started digging deep and grew an all new passion for fast tempo tracks including, and especially, the ripping sounds of Jungle. The one like Yontzie helped hold down the popular Unity Sound Saturdays in Calgary, playing a blend of Reggae and Dub that only he can provide. Formerly with the mighty Come Correct Sound Crew, and his new addition to the 403DnB roster of rudebwoys and gyals, Yontzie is a one of a kind Amen smasher and lover of all things broken and certainly one to keep your ear to the ground for!

January 30 1999 one young man’s life would be forever changed as he attended his first “rave” aptly called “Flyin High” and was exposed to the sounds of Jungle/Drum & Bass among other things and was instantly hooked on this crazy new music and became an avid listener.  Fast forward a few years later when a pair of turntables came into his possession, he very quickly became addicted to the “black crack” soon after.  

djenerate has been djing strictly Drum & Bass since 2003 and still hasn’t looked back yet.  Over the years his taste became more and more refined and defined and redefined, always choosing quality over quantity he remains a very trusted ear and respected selector among his peers.

Beginning his DJ career at a fresh and earnest sixteen, JediCheek had a vested interest in electronic music by the time junior high hit. Spending his time helping raves succeed and dancing brought on a yearning to be part of the music, so he picked up his own set of turntables. By the late nineties, his speed garage sound was his signature.

As the new millennium approached, new sounds brought new interests, and JediCheek stepped back from the scene to focus on his music. With his time, he discovered his true passion for drum and bass. Researching and practising became a part of his daily routine, and after several years, he chose to get back on the stage.

After a hard year of releasing mixes that showcased his love for all types of drum and bass, JediCheek was chosen to open the 2012 festival season at Sync Fest. One festival wasn't where it stopped, however, and in August he was selected to compete in the 403DNB talent search in Calgary, Alberta. After winning the competition and becoming a new member of the supremely successful drum and bass crew, he now shares the stage with talent that includes Tantrum Desire, Spectrasoul, DC Breaks, and many, many more.

With his diverse sound, clever mixes, and in-depth selection of music that keeps your feet flowing from start to finish, JediCheek is an essential part of discovery in the drum and bass scene in Calgary.
