Celebrating the sonic history of the label as part of the anniversary. Artists who have contributed to capsules throughout the five years of the project were invited to dig into the entire back catalog of releases and create their own unique take. The result is a beautifully diverse 12-track compilation that reinvents tracks, spanning from the first capsule that launched the label to the joint fundraiser compilations with Ute Records to the recent collaboration with the Berlin-based collective Mala Junta.

Berlin-born DJ and producer MZR has been shaping his distinct sound since the early 2010s, blending his background in drums and percussion into a hypnotic, drum-heavy strain of minimalistic techno. His intricate, detail-driven approach crafts an immersive sonic journey, where tribal rhythms and subtle nuances pull listeners deep into the moment. His sound is raw, rhythmic, and deeply emotive, designed to move both body and mind.

Beyond his work as a DJ and producer, MZR is a key figure in the underground scene. He co-founded SYXT, a Berlin-based music label, and runs his independent imprint, MZRRECORDS, both serving as platforms to spotlight emerging as well as established talent and push his forward-thinking vision of techno.

In this podcast, MZR takes you on a journey of deep tension and release, drawing you into a hypnotic pulse where you can fully lose yourself in the rhythm.

On the latest instalment of his VALA series, Finnish techno explorer Kaspiann tunnels into heads-down, mind-warping rhythm tracks of the highest order. Alongside his appearance on respected platforms such as Delsin Mantis and Optic Portal (alongside Spekki Webu), VALA affords Kaspiann the space to explore the depth and breadth of his sound with steely focus. The four tracks on VALA 4 are teeming with tactile textures and intricate detail that feel familiar and abstract all at once, perhaps best described by the titles that indulge in a little Finnish word play. 'Sammalkämmen', literally translated as 'moss palm', feels like a fitting reflection of the spongy mid-range matter on the opening track, while the humid, dense atmosphere of B1 cut 'Suohunaja' could indeed conjure a sense of 'swamp honey'. From 'Sienikieli's tunnelling rhythmic intrigue to the intricately arranged, expressive percussion of 'Niin Vain', Kaspiann continues to broaden his vocabulary within the language of deep techno, triggering ineffable sensations from carefully sculpted sonic forms and strapping them to incisive rhythms.

Measure Divide is the 435th guest of our original HATE Podcast series.

The mix was recorded in Toronto following a series of European shows. It captures the lingering energy of sleepless nights and strobe-lit dance floors. It traces the moments that stayed behind—dark, hypnotic, and fluid, shifting between tension and comfort. Set between 135 and 137 BPM, it keeps the body in motion while allowing the mind to drift into other realms.
