The Fuzz

Excited to return to self-releasing with these two melodic and bassy rollers. They're the first in a new series of self-releases I'm calling Lo Dubs. During a long stint away from home, I've felt a bit aimless and emotional. These songs each remind me of pieces of my past that feel like home.

A - Folklorico 2step is a broken beat grain sampled 2stepper with pieces of son jarocho woven through. Growing up, my aunt used to dance folklorico. Some of my family is from Veracruz, so I remember being particularly moved by the son rhythms, especially la bruja.

B - Bone String Dub is a reimagining of a track I put out with my indietronica band Deathless Gods with Human Bods about 8 years ago. The band was myself and Nightjars, one of the best folk songwriters I have ever met. This dub weaves Paul Weston's lush orchestral swells into the language of halftime dubstep.
