"Are you enjoying God's latest gift?"  

That's not me suggesting that a new track from Interbay is some sort of divine offering--oh, all of this Interbay stuff is definitely the product of a flawed human, desperately scratching his fingernails into the firmament, terrified of not experiencing enough of the one life that we get and doing my best to cling to as much of it as possible.  

("why does he Interbay like he's running out of time?" asks an imaginary Lin Manuel Miranda.)  

No, that's just a snippet of dialogue that everbrave Icarus has procured for manipulation and inclusion here.  Spoiler alert for any of you trainspotters that have missed it--but the title of this track is, supposedly, what that gift was.  

Violence.  A gift???  That sounds crazy.  

(...I think that's the point.)  

It is a chilling thing to try to convince someone into believing--about the world, about the nature of man, about the person you're talking to...  

I don't see it that way--but, perhaps the madness infused into the music of this track makes it clear that I find the idea of violence being a gift to be, frankly, insane.  

There's a lot going on here (though, that's often true of ANY Interbay track.  Am I right?)  Big beefy halftime beats.  Mad double time shakers.  Sped up breakbeats.  Bass guitar AND deep distorted 808 sub bass.  Thick distorted power chords and percussive synth hits that echo around the stereo spectrum...and another synth that is DYING to present a countermelody, but has to fight against a mix that is altogether too full of things vying for your attention.  

(This is the best of four mixing passes.  Others, to me, felt too muddy...or to brittle...hopefully, this is just right--but this is one of those tracks where I wish I had big hardware mixer, so I can be more active in the mix...bringing things in or out as needed, giving emphasis to something and clearing other sounds temporarily out of the way to do that properly.  I could do that, to some degree, in FL Studio...but that would mean so much automation...and I'm not good at drawing curves on a trackpad.  (I'm going to switch to using a mouse once I finally build that new production table that should make my life MUCH easier...  Just have to push my ADHD out of the way and prioritize that over everything else screaming for my attention--and that's never easy.)  

Noisy, chaotic, loud, manic...aproppos of a track titled "Violence", methinks.
