Frenchman Ivan Smagghe, owner of the chic label "Les  Disques de la Mort" and an extraordinarily talented DJ  likes to create joint projects lately.  Last summer, he released the album "It's Fine Line" with Tim Paris. But  that duo existed for several years, while the new project  Smagghe & Cross with Rupert Cross is a debut for both musicians. Rupert  is a rather popular composer who make his name in movies and theater industry and  together with Ivan, who is full of ideas and has a very ecletic and deep view of music,  they, I very much hope, will please us with their creations for a long time
This year duo appeared in an album of Scotish musicians “The Junto Club” with their remix for track called “Ikyrio”, last month they launch their first LP on Vladimir Ivkovic's Offen music, and now they are back with debut EP “Talking To Katz” on excellent Ransom Note Records, recorded with the participation of vocalists Emily Evans and David of the Junto Club.
Release brings us 2 originals tracks and remixes, included two versions from Manchester based Glowing Palms.
The tracks are being played by the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Optimo, Solar, Dave Harvey, Severino, Cosmo Vitelli, Kris Baha, Tim Paris and will be available to buy tomorrow 28th April.
So, today we  present you titule track “Talking To Katz” -  a slow psychedelic-surrealist piece , with a massive, but not straining bass line and incomparable vocals by the Junto Club geniuses - the track from release which i personally consider to be one of the best of this year.

PREMIERE: Smagghe & Cross - Talking To Katz [Ransom Note] 2017

So here we are with Riotvan's second installment of the "Familiar Faces", showcasing what's happening with the label these days (a lot), making label-residents shake hands and welcome affiliated folks to the syndicate. Although this is a 'various artists'-format, the here gathered stylistic approaches and track-turned mindsets make a strikingly coherent body of work. Just another evidence of how Riotvan has evolved into a renowned think tank of likeminded artists and indicator of state of the art sonic bliss. 

Kicking off we find Perel immersing in yet another synth-driven stream, seeking continuation to her latest, widely praised full length-cycle, but this time bypassing Venus or rather "Super Venus" while floating off to other otherworldly dimensions.

Next in line are Black Spuma, i.e. Lauer and Fabrizio Mammarella, demonstrating via "Drumbaeck" what a match in Neo-Disco-heaven they are. A highly energetic beat, laying the grounding for a cheerful synth-hook and harmonies you won't get out of your head anytime soon.

Same goes for "Tropical Redux", the follow up by none other than Panthera Krause. A particularly elated affair, carried out by a funked up bassline and a catchy string-theme, sticking its neck out in Disco-realms, while maintaining a primetime-adjusted groove.

At this point it's about time for a premiere. Say hi to New Hook, an all-female power-force with their debut release. "FXART" comes as a well-versed exercise in reviving frigid 80ies leanings with a contemporary urgency and attitude. And that's just a glimpse on what's to come from Linda, Ilka and Juliane.

Chinaski, definitely no stranger to the Riotvan family, is taking on the 80ies vibe and hands in "Zeichen der Zeit", an unhasting ride through various galaxies, combining nostalgic synth-aesthetics with spaced out futurism.

Closing things off, it's label-mainstay Jennifer Touch cutting deep with "Bleed", an almost existentially emotive composition, exploring spiritual abysses lyrically, re-modelling emotional chaos within the overtones of the arrangement and even trimming things down to physical functionality within the track's progression.

On its third release, @Deviant-Disco-1 continues to dig up lesser known gems of various origins with a hot batch of four brand new edits. The French rarities label sticks to its peculiar aesthetics and welcomes you once again to an enthralling musical trip — starting with Tchamy Patterson’s groovy & percussive afrobeat only to spiral into Barnes' and Ygalove's hypnotic The Mongol Raid slow-mo trance edit and steering from La Décadanse's tropical and sensual rework of vintage hit Amazoniaque all the way down to Éric Vincent's obscure 80s French erotica.

'The Mongol Raid' is the result of Deviant Disco's new beat connoisseur Ygal Ohayon (@trashdisco) aka Ygalove teaming up with mysterious producer Barnes (from Barnes & Wobble). Ygal bumped into a trancy, unmarked german white label from the 90s ; he pulled the age-old 'oops — wrong speed' 33 RPM trick and waited for Barnes to come along with his magic scissors. With the cheeky addition of an oriental synth going properly bananas, their collaboration gave rise to this entirely rebuilt, borderline industrial tune. A wholesome slow trance monster!Release

Sinchi is a not for profit label that donates all proceeds to their own foundation, supporting the preservation of indigenous culture. After two fantastic releases already, the third offering is a various artists compilation that shows off the label’s broad array of sounds from producers all over the world.
Here you can find: Tagliabue, Rabih Rizk, Braulio Renteria, Teniente Castillo,  BarumBarum and Lithuanian producer Gimel.
Gimel connects ambient, psychedelic sounds with deep, melodic moods, he plays at renowned clubs such as Opium and runs the ‘Samsara’ events in Vilnius. Here he offers ‘Dobilelis’ a superbly transcendental cut that is littered with vocal chanting and rugged bass riffs that really cast a spell.

Complete darkness engulfed the street as one by one each house switched off the lights inside. A curfew was no in affect all over the country and anybody who broke it would suffer grave consequences. The street lamps ommited a deep orange glow providing the only light for those who dared to travel by night. Although many were afraid to enter into the darkness, there were still nocturnal beings who would frequent the twilight hours, wittingly recruiting travellers to their growing pack each night. This was when the real excitement took place, it always is when you're breaking the rules.

Berlin-based imprint Ombra International have found a winning formula when it comes to their releases; bringing together artists who operate in the same sonic sphere who complement one another's creative outputs. Their VA EPs have seen the likes Local Suicide, Mondowski, Amarcord, Roe Deers and Ombra boss Curses, representing a cross section of sounds spanning wave, EBM, minimal synth and dark disco. This one sees Hard Fist boss Cornelius Doctor step up for a slow motion synth trip alongside Mufti, Renate's Sebastian Voigt and Colossio.

One of these formulas seems to be perfectly understood by Luca Venezia AKA Curses who once again (tenth time in a row)shows his eclectic taste , presenting fantastic collection of artists, this time uniting France, Germany and Mexico.
Our pick up is the Salon Zur Wilden Renate's man himself, Berlin based producer, dj and promoter - Sebastian Voigt with EX2 composition - remarkable psychedelic, keeping in constant tension track, composed of a paranoid pulsated bass line, a torn rhythm, anxious synths and vocals which all together sounds like soundtrack to the devilish rail-trains race somewhere on Mars .  12" out September 6th.

Italian artist Visionnaire's first release on our dear German label Emerald & Doreen Recordings celebrates his musical influences from Italian Wave and Dark Disco, taking a highly energetic club approach. The impressive pack of remixes provided by some of our favourite artists – Stockholm Syndrome (SXDNS165), Sunmantra, MAN2.0 (SXDNS081) and JackWasFaster – perfectly balances the power and melancholy of the originals while adding their own touches and interpretations.

"Shara" opens the EP with an impressive drive, space and robotic sounds, a track devoted to bringing trance and reverie to the dance floor. Despite its beauty and allure, we decided to premiere JackWasFaster’s version due to the boldness of his approach. First things first: He decided to slow down the original… considerably: From 117 to 106 BPM, to be more precise, which means some elements beamed up from the original to the remix were highlighted and thus can be better noticed, like the robotic layer. The guitar riffs and metallic FXs added by big Jack provide an obscure aura to his work. Killer remix here, peeps! "JackWasSlower", and we loved it!

Two fantastic original psycho-paranoid chuggy cuts are the main course, while Mexico resident Shubostar and chilean producer Ricardo Tobar elegantly take charge of remix duties respectively.
