Zauberstab V.A. Volume 1 is a compilation of electronic bedroom music made by contemporary artists that belong to similar sonic spheres. 
The A side feels like a holiday in an exotic landscape; the kind of place you don't want to leave. 
The B side then goes in a slightly deeper meditative direction, but not too far, since the sparking disco-infused psych exploration of ’Space Surfari’ will hold you back from falling into the void of the unconscious. What comes next is the sound that would welcome a moonlit night sky. 
The C side slinks into a minimal synth oriented exploration, ending with the intergalactic hopeful drift of ‘Har’.
The last side will provide a comfortable seat on this hypnotic journey. ‘Été 2017’ is an ode to the late summer nights, a mind-driving loop carried by gentle percussive sounds, filled with some bass deepness. The next tracks are the right balance between a hug and a breeze of fresh air for your mind and soul.
At this point you might find yourself wondering if it’s a good idea to open your eyes or just keep them closed for a bit longer and thoroughly enjoy all of the details of this story. But, why not? 
This one is, after all, a record to build beautiful memories with.

Joe Koshin makes his debut on Buried Records with his new EP ‘Inside’. Originally from Yorkshire, Joe’s introduction to dance music was forged in the North-east’s lively dance scene. This is where the sounds of Dubstep and Drum & Bass first piqued his interest in Electronic music. Currently based in London, he has developed his style in the renowned dance culture of the capital, elements of Breakbeat, Electro and Garage began to feature more prominently in his musical output. Rinse FM, Balamii, Planetaria Soundsystem, Childsplay and 199 have supported Koshin’s recent releases.
With all three tracks from the album being made during the pandemic, eerie tones can be heard throughout the EP reflecting the struggles we have all faced recently. Joe explains ‘I got myself into a pretty deep creative rut, and my output was at a real low'. With this lack of motivation, he struggled to make time for music and even considered throwing in the towel.
Our pick falls on the final track ‘There’s Nothing’ which pays homage to the Brazilian music Joe discovered during the lockdown. Clever sampling fuses cultural influence with his fierce sound seamlessly and is the hidden gem within this release.

The seventh release from LA/Mexico City label Muy Muy Limited features Berlin via Switzerland producer, multi instrumentalist and spiritualist; Kinsuby.  A slow burning house track that anticipates our eventual return to a dance floor.

For their next curation, Phuture Shock Musik launches a new Various Artists series named ‘Mo’ Dubz’. Somewhat an extension of the ‘PSM DUBZ’ series and sticking with the 10” format, ‘Mo’ Dubz Vol. 1’ gathers a host of fine talent to serve up a melting pot of electronic sounds over the course of three tracks – touching on futurist forms of techno, bass, bruk and electro – that reflects the genre-hopping nature of the Bristol label.
Pitching in for the first outing is London-based producer, DJ and long-standing NTS radio host, LDLDN – who in the last five years has been making a mark as a producer, with a great deal of his highly melodic, Detroit-flavoured techno productions surfacing on his Natural Frequency imprint, and now here landing his debut entry on PSM. Also stepping up is Bristol’s Sentinel 793, who follows up his T. Relly-assisted single ‘A Bruk Ting’ released via Phuture Shock last year, which was later reworked by J:Kenzo and has been tearing up dancefloors ever since. Lastly, another familiar face on board, although in remixed form, is Belgian-born, multi-skilled artist Rosie From The Block. Whilst here, remix duties are handled by Heavenly recordings’ signees The Orielles, who take the original track – lifted from Rosie’s ‘Believe In It’ EP [PSMDUB002] – into a club-bound direction that’s far removed from the Manchester band’s groovy indie-pop roots.
Helming the A-side is LDLDN with the Detroit futurism of ‘Very Online’, a raw slab of machine funk driven by stomping 4/4 kicks, claps and rippling hi-hats; fittingly set against a giddy backdrop of angular synths that spiral across the cosmos, and chord patterns switching from trippy, sci-fi shapes to soulful lushness. Next up and on the flip is Sentinel 793 with the introspective bassism of ‘Tomorrow’s World’, which dwells in the far-flung corners of broken beat, and is built around a hefty base of weighty kicks and post-junglist breaks; coupled with a meandering synth b-line tightly woven into the groove, and cradled in swirly IDM-tinged soundscapes. Closing out the disk is The Orielles with their quirky rendition of Rosie From The Block’s ‘Let The Drum’. Dialling down the guitars and bringing their electronic influences to the fore, the trio convert the track into a playful blend of electro and footwork, whilst utilising Rosie’s vocal hook and key stabs into a hypnotic loop; fringed by zippy percussive elements and deep subs.

PREMIERE: LDLDN - Very Online [Phuture Shock Musik]

He's back. After a break that felt like an eternity, @Cuthead has finally awoken from his creative beauty sleep to check up on his home base Uncanny Valley with his new album THE DETOUR. To avoid overexciting everyone’s attention span, the album is spread over four parts. And he's definitely not coming back as a cheapskate since the album is full of gifts that true Cuthead fans desire. In other words, he does what he does best: Blasting out slick tracks that oscillate between laid-back underground hip-hop, sample heavy house and vintage acid, but with enough surprises along the way. The tracks were created over the last few years, including some jams from his live set that he made while travelling or in a hotel.

As soon as the typical cozy, warm chords kick in during the INTRO of The Detour Part 1, you immediately feel at home again in Cuthead's world, where it's always Saturday afternoon and laid-back jams drip out of the speakers (at least on two of the four parts). On top of that, Chester Watson from St. Louis (one of Cuthead's absolute favorite rappers) provided a feature. With his distinctive voice and dreamy flow, Chester explains in not one but two versions of PROCEED how to carry on and stay relaxed despite adverse circumstances. TOUR DE FRANCE, on the other hand, is a trapstrumental for the masses in which a hi-hat thunderstorm is intertwined with a wind sample that constantly twists around itself.

The second in Cuthead's tetralogy is what we can certainly call a house monster. It starts with a track named after one of Cuthead’s special skills: MPC JAM. With its filter attacks and unmistakable drops, the track builds on Cuthead's great house floor fillers, leaving no ass standing still. SUNDAY 5 PM enters the floor like a bird of paradise with room-filling disco strings, before SPACED OUT follows with Theo Parrish-like grooves. MIDNIGHT ROUTE closes The Detour Part 2 with broken beats and an unusual but irresistible electronic bassline.

The opener of the third part once again praises the old promise of the House Nation, not without ZUBU being refined with the very own Cuthead spin, which definitely puts the track on a techno floor as well. POWER ACID lives up to its name and comes across as a classic warehouse acid screw that takes every rave to the edge. Understatement is also not required with PARTY LIKE IT'S 99. After all, every Saturday afternoon is followed by a Saturday night and a piano house bomb with a little ounce of acid always goes down well on such an occasion.

The final chapter of THE DETOUR opens promisingly and in typical Cuthead style with the aptly titled BONKERS and the kind of weirder head-nodding beat that only the Dresden resident can squeeze out of his samples. In LISOLEIL, Malone the Chemist drops his lines over what feels like an aquatic jazz foundation. Cuthead spotted the Canadian rapper when he posted a freestyle under a tweet from Flying Lotus. After that, the snares are turned up again in the sample fest that is FOXY. OUTRO is almost epic by Cuthead standards and could easily be the soundtrack to a modern giallo film.

The album is accompanied by beautiful animations created in collaboration between illustrator Robert Deutsch and animator Tobias Kramer.

jmoy is the musical alias of artist and designer Justin Moy. Influenced by his background in architecture, the Amsterdam-based producer draws analogies between spatial design and musical composition, seeking to tell imaginary spatial narratives through sound.

The music resulting from this is a sonic journey traveling through a sequence of spaces, transitioning between interiors, exteriors, and the thresholds between them.

The first culmination of these sonic and spatial explorations is "Udys," jmoy's debut EP. "Udys" consists of four tracks, each envisioned as a narrative journey through an imaginary world. Atmospheric and rhythmic elements found within field recordings from his environments lay the foundation for each track.

Syrinx Music’s tenth digital EP is the works of Saint-Etienne’s producer dubmentalist. A member of the French bass scene since the late 00s, Olivier Satre patiently built his take on drum&bass, breaks & more making great use of numerous devices & instruments he found in flea markets and secondhand stores. The Journey EP showcases this approach to sound: anchored in contemporary halftime d&b, it derives it towards a more narrative, introspective version, hinting at IDM & 90s electronica. These four tracks may also been seen as a story of the dubmentalist project, melting loops, samples & bruises that where sometimes collected more than 15 years ago, or referencing memories of the artist.

From its very first seconds, title-track “Journey” assembles around layers of retro electronic organs, samples from raï tapes and a drum section influenced by modern halftime and old-school hip-hop, giving a luminous, timeless feeling. The darker “Memories” is based on a haunting piano melody, which builds a nostalgic and uneasy vibe that feels closer to trip-hop, while “Elliptic” offers yet another take on dubmentalist’s sound with its subtly shifting loops, slowly developing an unsettling groove that seems to constantly rebuild. The EP’s last track, “Ghosts In My TK6”, matches creaking sounds, weird noises and more, coming from a vintage portable recorded, which are recycled in a perfectly arranged d&b track. It also closes an EP that feels both evocative and personal, as well as a new Syrinx Music release located in between the club & the lab.

With his latest EP, It's Cancelled, featuring diffused electronics on the A-Side and menacing drum infestations on the B-Side, Serge Geyzel keeps pounding beats and bass into oblivion. Adepta Editions expertly compiles these recordings onto vinyl and digital media, emphasizing timeless limited editions. While "Take Your Time And Be Mine" deftly walks the line between Plaid-infused melodics and Clark's shuffling rhythms, "Before the Silence Came" features fuzzy electrical sound fields that eventually collapse, while Serge Geyzel crafts his distinctive characteristic textures. With percussive acrobatics and synth strands floating away, "Come Closer" bookends the A-Side.

Conversely, "Renamed" kicks a hole in our bass bins with its rough outer shell that combines parts of MBM and DHS staccato beat work (listen to Man From Mantis on Love Love to compare and contrast). It seems like Geyzel has flipped a mystical switch and gone completely drum focused. "It's Cancelled" ends with an avalanche of glitchy blips and bleeps covering the landscape with rough and funky rhythms, while "Out of Context" continues to push low-wobbling dub limits with rapid fire beats, bass, and distortion.

It's Cancelled is a top-tier EP for 2024, and is a strong and comprehensive collection of six tracks with mind-blowing tectonic tempos, low-flying bass-beats, and magnetized electro-nics. Those who enjoy imprints like Love Love, Touched Music, Analogical Force, and Brokntoys ought to pay attention.
