Each night, she climbed out of the top floor window onto the roof - it had become her favourite place to be with her thoughts. From up here she could see the entire town, the houses lit up like a handful of tiny diamonds scattered across the horizon. It felt peaceful beneath the stars; away from the rat race of waking hours, away from the worries of daily life…

West Coast producer Dave Aju introduces us to his latest musical venture with the launch of his new artist imprint Elbow Grease Records. Taking care of the inaugural release himself, on ‘X17’ Dave pays reference to the hypothetical particle and potential Fifth Force discovery, delivering a deep and soulful cosmic trip that teeters between warm and cold textures. The lead single is joined by two versions: an ambient ‘Viiibe’ mix and a stripped back ‘Rhythm Dub’, which suit different spaces and times.

Soma Records’ electro sub-label, Avoidant Records assemble a fresh rogue squadron for another massive compilation as 16 electro warriors take on the ‘Dark Planet’.
After the impact of last year's huge ‘Defend Your Planet’ VA, Avoidant immediately set about recruiting another incredible group of artists that represent the Glasgow based label’s output. ‘Dark Planet’ brings together established, classic and up and coming producers who take their cues from the Detroit and European schools of electro. Gathered from across the planet - from Australia, The Netherlands, the USA and UK - the compilation sound is geared up for the dancefloor.
Our choice here was an a huge bass waves produced direct from majestic The Lord Of The Isles on ‘Approach & Identify’ glide across dubbed out percussion and effective melodies.
The compilation will be released on digital platforms on 22nd November this year, with a four track vinyl sampler to follow in early 2022 featuring a vinyl only exclusive Dub Mix of Flug’s contribution to the release.

A new imprint hailing from Ljubljana, Slovenia, KRI aims to capture the lost futures of EBM, electro and nu-wave from the 80s while pairing them with future-focused productions of the now. Named after post-punk group Otroci Socializma, the label ran by local DJs and promoters Schrauff & Lavka will showcase records enjoyed both in the club and at home, while re-issuing obscure and timeless records alongside fresh material from producers across the globe. The first instalment welcomes a well-crafted journey and debut collaboration between Christian Kroupa, arriving off his LP on Natural Sciences under his Alleged Witches alias, and Return to Disorder and L.I.E.S. alumnus LCN (aka Le Chocolate Noir), with the two producers serving up their eclectic ‘World’s Connect’ EP - backed by a remix from Mannequin boss Alessandro Adriani. Opening production ‘The Quest’ welcomes a futuristic electro ride through warped vocals and resonant synths to set the tone, before Alessandro Adriani’s take on the track dives into darker, murkier territories as he serves up a powerful acid-flecked remix. On the flip, ‘The Hate That You Preach’ continues the dystopian feel with a chuggy production guided by vocal echoes, while ‘Electro City Express’ takes cues from its title with a surging, sweeping journey through cinematic synths. B3 ‘Contraint Attached’ rounds out the vinyl offering with a dark yet immersive and absorbing tumble through post-punk, EDM and synth-wave influences for an intoxicating trip. The release also comes with a digital bonus in the form of the PAN YU version of ‘Electro City Express’ - offering up a ray of light and an abundance of energy via intergalactic leads, bubbling electronics and nimble percussion throughout. Mysterious German producer His Master's Voice makes his debut on Delsin Records. With three mind bending originals and an absorbing Vril rework on board his entry on the Delsin e-series is a deeply immersive beat trip into another dimension.

The roughed edged ambiance of 'Fire Red' opens the dance in soothing yet engaging fashion with superbly spacious soundscapes pulling you in and slowly involving into a foggy kick drum extravaganza. 'Eve' then offers a deep and propulsive electro groove with glitchy atmospheres. Lead track 'Transition' hits hard, an intergalactic trip on turbulent stuttering drums and whipping synths. Exclusive: Chino - Carabo Cruise

Kraków-based artist Chino takes the route via the Autostrada to fasten and intensify the Polish-German friendship and delivers Uncanny Valley's next EP. The follow-up of his Kolaps EP on shtum comes with four takes, all written in-between 2015 and 2020, all sounding as fresh as the Marcello Gandini designed Alfa Romeo Carabo, one of the most innovative sports cars of the 1960's. With Carabo Cruise Chino dedicates an entire track, which is as sharp as the wedge design  and the Carabo's iridescent coloring, to the prize-winning automobile. Unsurprisingly the take has an Italo-Disco-note and combines warm chords with an industrial-influence – a similarity to cars produced in Turin, where Alfa Romeo is located. The graphic wizard and artist, Chino, sprinkles his magic on his own raw approach to come up with catchy result that has the potential to accompany its audience on several roadtrips on the Autostrada into sunnier climes. 

Chino's EP Autostrada will be released on Uncanny Valley on October 28th, 2020.

To celebrate its 2nd anniversary, Ola Radio is launching a series of three compilations, bringing together 43 artists with plural aesthetics, like Ola Radio’s musical selection.

« Ola Compile vol.1 - Bande passante » is the first in this three-part series. Its release is scheduled for January 14, 2021 (Ola Radio's anniversary).
The release inaugurates the meeting between several universes in a free creative space where downtempo, dub, techno, leftfield and ambient intersect to form a coherent and nuanced whole. This is the result of 14 artists of multiple influences, from Bordeaux and elsewhere, all driven by the same love and passion for music.

SIMPLE EXPOSITION are Insulaire and Blumm, two members of the long-standing Bordeaux-based French crew tplt, join forces on a new adventure, mixing their various influences to forge a new sound, hopefully crafted for the future. Away from the decks like all of us, they forcefully returned to the coziness of home studio and spent the never-to-be-talked-about-again-year brewing with care the material upon which they could one day return behind the controls of a sound system.
