Italian based Low Manuel turns in a solid track for JP Soul's Roam recordings. unleashed on the stems is Brooklyn born Berlin based Curses who turns the track into a dark pulsating slow (ish) mo burner with menacing Morricone style guitars, a psychoactive top end percussion and more than a sprinkle of dark disco magic. 
Jagged and unnerving, it seems like another week another cracking Curses remix.

The air was hot and thick making it hard to breathe in the small waiting room. She glanced up at the clock and then back down at her watch. She'd been waiting for a long time, what felt like hours and hours. But it had only been a few minutes. Maybe the heat was getting to her. That must be it. Each person that exited the room looked as if they were in a state of trance, as if they had been hypnotised. Something strange was taking place in that room and she wasn't sure she wanted to know exactly what. As she stood up and made to leave, her name resounded around the room on the tannoy. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to have a look...

Calypso Records founders Thomass Jackson & Iñigo Vontier set up their label as a way of shining a light on Latin American artists, however for their next release they hone in on Tel Aviv and four artists making waves in the Israeli city. Entitled Tel Aviv Flavors, the EP features tracks from Middle Sky Boom, Niv Ast, Naduve and our pick from Rina; rattling drums and erratic percussion over a deep rumbling bassline.

Dave The Machine is a collaboration between indie-dance Brighton band Via Tirana & Freudenthal, Berlin based dj/producer/curator.

Via Tirana provides the back bone of the track where Freudenthal applies his distinct magic, opening up the song, giving it the swagger it truly deserves. The post-punk snarl swimmers below some breathy robot-electronics, moody-Eastern/Morocco synths reinforcing a motorik moonlight drive out into the sand-dunes. Absolute crisp electro pulse, knife-edge chunky beats ala Damon Jee, the french-disco thrust manoeuvres of David Shaw & Dombrance weaving around vocals reminiscent of the bad-seed dark pop of Curses. The track builds and builds, giving you ample time to strike a pose, and strut with your camel down that catwalk, throwing in the sassy hip-shake to the perfect clap-back beats.

The trail through the jungle was covered with huge leaves and twisted branches that blocked their course. Every time a strange noise sounded they'd flinch or hastily look over their shoulder. All manner of dangerous animals lived in this place. They knew that as soon as the sun disappeared behind the trees that this journey would only become more treacherous. It was a race against time to make it back... 

2019 saw a string of accomplished releases from Berlin-based power couple Local Suicide, making homes on Lumiere Noir, Tusk Wax and Eskimo Recordings. Also known for their collaborations with Curses and Franz Matthews, the duo now join forces with Bavarian producer Kalipo for an EP on Audiolith sub-label Hold Your Ground. Featuring two original tracks, two remixes from Theus Mago - under his own name and his Bufi alias - plus another rework from Saint Petersburg's Radial Gaze, Crocodile/Dominator represents their fresh take on new wave and electronic sounds.
