Javi Redondo - 'Insight'

Producers Kasper Bjørke and Jon Atli Helgasson’s second issue for the label, Bullschnitzel, continues in the futuristic techno and dark disco vein of preceding Correspondant releases, here injected with 80s post-punk and cold wave.
The EP’s opener, “I Love The Way You Hold My Hips”, struts at a steady 112 bpm, with an acoustic percussive structure offset by spaced- out synths and smoldering guitar riffs. The remix comes from Red Axes, a joint project from Tel Aviv-based producers and DJs Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi, who run the track through a chemical bath for looser sound.
The Mansisters’ second original submission, “Bullschnitzel”, is a soundtrack for subversion and strange phenomena. Tension diffuses through the deployment of escalating drones, cut with off-key synth tunings and a brooding, regular pulse.
Correspondant label head Jennifer Cardini offers up a remix to round out the release.
The syncopated Roland TB-303 rhythms that drive her “Highway to Schnitzel” are adulterated with a heavy dose of acid, nodding toward the diverse dancefloors she’s worked in over two decades in electronic music.

Shiny Objects returns to Roam Recordings with the brilliant Lights of Fire EP. After a successful year running his iconic San Francisco clubs Monarch and the Great Northern Shiny Objects aka Chris Smith rejoins Roam to follow up his previous Bad Acid and Purest Sound EPs with two new originals. The title track is a low slung slice of beautiful electronics that is at the same time meditative, blissful, comforting, and unique. The other original, Dirty Darlins, ups the tempo while adding a bit of dark disco.
The originals and remixes that make up the Lights of Fire EP bring a variety of unique sounds and moods that fit in well for the discerning dance floor and the ever growing Roam Recordings catalogue.

Having previously released on a wealth of labels including Marco Dionigi's Quantistic division and mighty Dutch imprint Bordello a Parigi (the latter in cahoots with legendary producer Alexander Robotnick), it would be fair to say that Tulioxi is one of the rising stars of contemporary cosmic disco. Further evidence to back up this theory can be found on the Italian producer's latest EP, in the rubbery bass, wild electronics and mind-altering effects of Baldelli-esque opener "The Outside" especially.
