The new Macadam Mambo release by Poperttelli is a great piece of music ! In the Ambient vibe of the originators Future Sound Of London or The Orb, this album concept around dreams travelling, brings us into tribal futuristic landscapes, dark atmospheres on heavy beats and trippy floatings. Optimo Music loves a bit of serendipity. We had been really digging all of 2023’s releases by Will Hofbauer, which ticked all our boxes, when an email dropped into JD Twitch’s in-box asking if we’d be interested in releasing some of his tracks. Would we ever!

Thus we are delighted to present 3 tracks of outer space bass dub designed for advanced danceflloors. We asked Will to tell us a bit about the tracks -

These three tracks right here are just a couple of Dingers!! They’re a bit different from my usual fare, so I’m super super happy for them to have found un espacio en Optimo! 

The first one, Diiing, was just a fun experiment with some funny vocals and faster drums. As for the other two, if Leech is a big old slug crawling through a damp cave, then Can Dub is a fun little skip through the woods. The enormous reach of dub’s influence is clearly running through all three of these, in my opinion, but defo in the last two :)

Overall, I just feel like I’m a massive fan who is lucky enough to have a crack at making and putting out stuff really. I’m super chuffed to be writing this little quote about this release! If you’ve read this far, I hope you enjoy the music!!

The temple was old and weathered, its towering stone walls crumbling with the passage of time. Thick green ivy hung over the roof and clung to the outer walls of the historic structure. High upon the hill it sat away from prying eyes, a mysterious space full of dark secrets. It had once been a place where people came to worship and to celebrate but now it stood empty and abandoned, no longer a space for living beings to frequent. 

Brussels-based record store and distributor Crevette Records are set to release the third instalment on their label arm. They welcome Weird Dust to the family with Tribes 1.1, six tracks that showcase the Belgian producer’s love for hardware and futuristic sounds.

PREMIERE: Weird Dust - Harimba 1.1 [Crevette Records]

Tribes 1.1’ by Weird Dust is the third release by Brussels-based label and vinyl purveyor Crevette Records. The six tracks reflect an eclectic taste in hardware, melding organic and heavily processed sounds into a sort of musical retro-futurism. The percussion distinguishes itself, simultaneously free-form and mathematical, and certain to make you dance. Up close, ‘Tribes’ gestures at something alien, like going back to the jungle, but on another planet. This is what the future was like; notice the weird dust all around you.
