Rueben Rey is the quintessential performer, able to rock any crowd by seemlessly blending musical genre's with his time tested skills! Influenced by an eclectic range of DJ's and musical genres, such as house, EDM, pop, rock, hip hop and latin, he developed a deep love and appreciation of how a dj and his music can move and influence an audience.
Entering the scene as a break dancer, Rueben Rey learned to feel, and not just hear, the music. NJ Underground DJ Glen Garcia, a childhood friend, was the first to introduce Rueben Rey to house music and the underground scene, therein sparking his lifelong love of EDM . Other significant musical influences came from other NJ Underground DJ’s including Mark Bee, Marshal Villarosa and Jared Gallo. In addition, he was also influenced by the well known greats such as Donald Glaude, Frankie Bones, Nigel Richards and Carl Cox! In later years, Dj AM, Z-trip, Fashen, Freshone, Chris Cutz, Scotty Boy and DJ Theron! Rueben Rey got his informal training in beats and sounds at the legendary Structure parties in Asbury Park, New Jersey during 1996. In response to his his continued involvement in the nightlife scene, in 2003 he enrolled in the Scratch DJ Academy in New York City to polish his technique.
It was then in 2004 that preparation met opportunity when a friend invited him to South Beach, Miami, Florida to practice and further hone his craft. Once there, he immersed himself in the local nightlife culture becoming a VIP host and DJ’ing in numerous nightclubs from 2004-2007, gaining a reputation as the DJ and host who always keeps the party rocking. During his time in South Beach he was privileged to get sponsored by Fortune Music and has since participated in their events during the Winter Music Conference (WMC) each year in Miami.  In 2007, he moved back to New Jersey, and his roots, and has since continued rocking the crowds and clubs of the Jersey Shore and New York City.

"I put my life on wax", was his answer when asked why he creates the unique sounding, rich melodies that he refers to as "Smoking Music". Big Osh then stated that he didn't wish to be curtailed into the masses of artists looking for the "Big Deal". Instead he'd use his musical background to recreate life experiences shared by him and love ones to make a sound only he could call his own. Dark & Deep are the worlds he says define his Sound. "I create music because i love to, not because I need it to make me rich, or because I wanna feel cool. I was put on earth to create in my own way, but all the same I'm thankful for the fans that stay with me and support me along the way. I know inside I do this for them as much as myself." he smiled, nodded to the Purple Smurf, then they got up and walked out....
