QJ started DJing in 2010 in Minneapolis, a city with a long-standing, vibrant house and techno community. During the early years, while “on the outside looking in” at this scene, he was always watching local selectors like Jeff Swiff, Christian James, E-Tones, and DVS1, to name a few. In 2017 he had his first opportunity to play an opening set at House Proud, a Minneapolis house institution (RIP Honey), and he was hell-bent on becoming a “house-hed” from there.

After 11 years of playing on digital formats, he met fellow house-addict and vinyl enthusiast Conor McGinnis (aka McG) who pushed him to start digging for physical records and buy his first set of Technics 1200s (MK2-gang). During this process, he adopted the practice of “if it’s hot and timeless, no matter what year it was made, it’s coming in the bag.”

"Fast forward to now, he’s had the opportunity to share many DJ mixes on McG’s Spinzone Radio Show (congrats on 100 episodes!), formed “The Excavators”: a DJ duo with McG, and started a new vinyl-focused party in Minneapolis known as “Wax Appeal” (www.instagram.com/wax_appeal_mpls/).

This vinyl mix is a collection of some new and old heaters that he is currently hyped-on. Enjoy and see you on the dancefloor."
