Kitty Macfarlane is a songwriter and guitarist from Somerset, whose music is rich with visual imagery and written with an eco-eye. From the starling murmurations on the Somerset Levels to the lowly eel's epic transatlantic migration, and the small part we ourselves play in a much bigger picture, her songs are bound by the underlying theme of mankind's relationship with the wild. Kitty Macfarlane's highly anticipated debut album Namer Of Clouds, released September 2018 and produced by Sam Kelly and Jacob J Stoney, gathers inspiration from the sky to the seabed. Carried by a voice 'as clear as a mountain stream' (FRUK), her lyrics touch on intervention and rewilding, climate change and migration, and woman’s historical relationship with textiles and the land. The album is augmented by all kinds of ‘found sound’ recorded in locations from Somerset to Sardinia – birdsong, waterfalls, the click of knitting needles - and bookended by sounds of the wild.

Kitty was voted Female Artist of the Year 2018 by FATEA. Namer Of Clouds was included in The Guardian's Best Folk Albums of 2018, and nominated for Album Of The Year in the fRoots Critics Poll. Kitty released her first EP Tide & Time in 2016, after being shortlisted for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award the year before, and has since toured with acclaimed folk duo Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, Blair Dunlop, and Elephant Sessions. She has received project funding from the English Folk Dance and Song Society, and more recently the Lynsey de Paul Prize for female songwriters.

Grace Smith is a fiddle player and clog dancer from Teesside. A graduate of the BMus Folk and Traditional Music degree at Newcastle University, Grace performs with Monster Ceilidh Band, in a duo with Sam Partridge, The Rachel Hamer Band, as well as solo.

Despite her tender age of 22, Lewis-born singer Mischa Macpherson has already scooped several major UK folk awards – a fitting testament to her music’s pure-distilled expressiveness and radiant vitality. Named Gaelic Singer of the Year at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music awards and BBC Radio 2’s Young Folk Award Winner her following is fast growing.

Having grown up immersed in the distinctive culture of the Outer Hebrides, she unearthed her love for music and Gaelic at a very early age, and it is these influences that the young singer now presents with clarity and tenderness to audiences around the world.

Mischa has performed in Australia, Canada, Germany, Holland, Scandinavia and Romania, as well as to leading UK folk festivals in front of crowds as large as 20,000 people (Fairport’s Cropredy Convention). Her music was brought to the forefront of the UK’s wider musical audience after a live session on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 3 in 2014 and she has since collaborated in a handful of world music commissions with the likes of Galician piper Carloz Nunez and Pakistani siblings Suraj and Chad Khan.


Ferocious folk foursome 4Square play their music with zest, fire and virtuosity, yet an understated maturity which has grown throughout their nine year journey as a band. The sight and sound of simultaneous fiddle-clog dancing will quicken the pulse, galvanised by driving piano and percussion. By contrast, the listener is then stirred and softened with 4Square’s melancholic three part harmony singing. An outright musical journey, all in an acoustic setting.

Corrina Hewat is Principal Harp Tutor (BA Scottish Music) at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She is a harpist, singer, composer & arranger, musical director, recording artist and musical collaborator.  Nominated Instrumentalist of the Year at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards and the recipient of a ‘Women in Music’ Award for composition, her huge range of musical influences has contributed greatly to her individual take on traditional music. Corrina achieved recognition for her work with Bachué, Shine (with fellow harpist Mary Macmaster) and Scots supergroup The Unusual Suspects (nominated Live Act of the Year) who showcased the Year of Scotland at the Lorient Interceltique Festival in Brittany, France. She is a trained judge for the Harp Society of America and has run masterclasses over USA and Europe. Her vocal workshops have seen her teach 150 people at a time with astonishing results! 

She has over 30 recordings under her own name, band names and as a session musician and is in the process of releasing her second Scottish Harp tutor book.
