Born: 6 November 1971 in Queens, NYC, USA.

Joey Beltram is widely acknowledged as a leading innovator in the early development of underground dance music.

Joey began DJing as a hobby back in 1983 at the age of 13 playing mostly early electro and hip-hop. He made the switch to house music in 1985 when the first wave of Chicago house hit NYC that same year.

In 1989 he started releasing some of his early productions on several small New York record labels whilst he was working as a courier. A year later he caught the eye of R & S Records in Belgium and by mid 1990 released his first major record with that company titled "Energy Flash". Beltram soon followed with some equally impressive releases.
All through the 90's he has created some of the most timeless music on some of the most cutting edge labels of the decade.

Here's my participation in the challenge HÖR x Voltage Labs DJ Contest - this mix is a sample from my 'Live recorded training session #93260' that last 2:30 hours

This is what my training sessions sounds like, the blending can be sometimes raw but the tracklist is good anyway -underground Techno & Acid only- and the progression as well - a strong and nice build up like I love to do, this is what matter the most imo

I started Djing in 2013 and since then my goal is to bring to people a Techno music that delivers emotions and surprises, that is nonlinear, that has a sens to me and that is interesting musically speaking

My inspirations in the construction of a Dj set and the tracks that compose it mainly comes from the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal CDs i was listening during my childhood and adolescence

🌐 Why do I play vinyl?

I love the raw sound of it and i appreciate having no screen while playing
I don’t want perfection - i want the audience to hear that human touch and to feel that there’s life behind the decks
I think that there’s a form of freedom in keeping in touch with matter nowadays 👁️

🌐 Why do I mostly play music produced in the early 90s?

Since my first Techno party in Montreuil in 2011 this is the [timeless] sound i've always wanted to listen to in clubs/parties with no chance for it
That’s the era that interests me the most, i like the fact that it’s more raw and authentic
