I wrote this during the pandemic when I was doing a heck of a lot of dog-walking!

Lyrics:

My little wiener dog knows all the town is his bog,
Every corner merits study and perusal,
Every stain on a wall is his port of call,
And requires his liquid signature approval.

He’s the Professor of Pee, he’s got his Pee.H.D.,
He knows his canine urinology from A to Zee,
Forensically inspecting is his specialty,
He’s called the doggie with his Pee.H.D.

He knows all about filtration, reabsorption and secretion,
When he sniffs a hydrant all of this is clear,
He knows the P-H range, with every breed it will change,
And the nuances are more than they appear.

He studies density, and transparency, colour, odour, flavour and acidity,
Golden Amber U. is where he got his degree,
And his college was the backside of a maple tree.

He smells urea, chloride, sodium, creatinine, potassium,
The rest all being good old H2O,
When taken altogether, and depending on the weather,
They invoke a self-response that triggers flow.

“Shall I approach it from the left? No, I’ll approach it from the right,
My leg goes up, down, up, down, my body spins around,

That’s required for such a vital job in town.”

This is the latest track of my current ambient drone series, created with Soma Lyra-8, Elektron Digitakt and Strymon Big Sky. I wanted to create a mood that sounds different than the usual Lyra stuff and not like a typical drone. I felt like I need something else in my liveset and here we go - Digitakt adds a simple pad sound to the rhythmic pattern of the Lyra. 'Modulation' is also the title track of my upcoming performance.

Each track serves as a chapter in a larger story: from the ethereal swell of “Remote Isolation” and the meditative pulse of “Rebirth,” to the childlike wonder of “Tiny Creatures” and the twilight tension of “Dusk.” The album peaks with the soaring title track “Epica,” where layered synths, cinematic drums, and Mimi Page’s haunting vocals conjure visions of interstellar heroism. The closing track, “There Are Other Worlds Than These,” named after Richie’s own publishing label and referencing Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, delivers a powerful finale — triumphant, textured, and emotionally resonant.
