Zounds! A midweek treat for the weary psychedelic travelers shackled to desks and manning the meatpacking lines. Perched on the precipice of a massive fall tour complete with a stunning new live show and a gaggle of special guests, Ott has blessed The Untz with unholy water (it stings) and a fancy new single hot off the presses and straight from the laboratory. "Baby Robot" is a lush, symphonic piece oozing with walls of cushy synths and a hypnotic beat that laps up against the ethereal vox like waves on the shore.

The B-Side "Mr. Balloon Hands" is a trippy, broken beat opus riddle with Indian raga scatting and plenty of exotic percussion to get those tired feet moving. Bouncy, buoyant, and ebullient, this cut will push you over onto the safety of the weekend whereupon Ott triumphantly returns to the great state of Colorado with a pair of shows on the 13th and 14th: first at the Mish up near Ft. Collins, and then Boulder bound on Saturday. The rest of the country need not fret, the brand new show hits cities big and small from coast to coast through the month of September and into October with Bluetech, Anomie Belle, Aligning Minds, and many more incredible acts.

Get ready for an 80’s dancehall / roots revival with this killer release from Queens, NY’s new Rock Steady dons, The Frightnrs. This four piece ensemble have taken the cooled out vintage vibes of Jamaican Rock Steady, combined it with the raw energy and vocal stylings of 80’s Rub A Dub and added a touch of punk rock spirit to create an entirely unique sound that redefines what a reggae band can sound like. They recently broke through with a soaring cover of Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind” on NY’s esteemable Daptone Records, and have now give us this great 5 track EP for Mad Decent. The Daptone connection should give you an idea of the genuine sound we’re dealing with here- this is the real deal vintage vibes, polished into a beautiful roughness by longtime NY producer Victor “Ticklah” Axelrod. Once a student at the Rhode Island School of Design burning the midnight oil in the studio with a soundtrack always in the background, Sam has since forged his inspirations from jazz fusion, funk, and future beats into a style of bass music known to captivate audiences with a spectacle of mesmerizing detail and high resolution sound design. 5AM’s music merges worlds as it expertly weaves electronic production and live instrumentation through creative processing and meticulous mixing. To bring his journey full circle, Sam has expanded his project to form the 5AM Trio, a collaboration complete with live drumming from ZONE Drums (Aaron Harel) and guitar, bass, and pads from Keith Wadsworth. 5AM has soared to new heights, becoming the first electronic music producer to perform at the historic Kings Theatre in New York City for the sold-out Tipsgiving. 5AM is now a seasoned performer who's shared the stage with Tipper, Shpongle, Jade Cicada, kLL sMTH, Detox Unit, Kalya Scintilla, Random Rab, and more, and lived and built strong roots up and down the east and west coasts of the US.
