Silver, Splice and Prophecy make up Manchester’s finest, North Base. After cuts on Viper Recordings, Hospital Records, Shogun Audio, New State Music, and more, they return to hometown imprint Nemesis Recordings for the release of the Waiting EP, six booming and blasting tunes which are sure to rock their way through 2016 and beyond.
After a succession of remixes for Ms Dynamite, Laidback Luke, SL2 and others, North Base have been supported by the likes of Skrilliex, Sub Focus, MistaJam and Matrix & Futurebound to name a few. Diverse and high quality throughout, the Waiting EP is set to stun.
Down System leads things off, warming things off with an ominous, creeping intro and tougher than leather electronic kicks. Fans old and new will appreciate the sound of this one, as it makes the perfect start to this dynamic EP. Next is Now We’re Talkin, which continues the vibe, with some nice keyboard melodies flowing over the top of the drums. Taking cues from influences like Daft Punk and Andy C, this one firmly has the North Base Stamp all over it.
How Do I Know is the third track, which take a more contemplative and soulful path, with mournful female vocals flowing over a rolling break. Something for all the liquid soldiers out there, this one is really something special. Strings and chords move in and out of the mix, resulting in a track of perfect balance and emotion. Get locked into Blurred Vision, which draws in elements of the old skool rave sound to give the EP yet another direction. Building up nicely to a smooth main section, this one shows off the boys’ dedication to and knowledge of the music.
Ear Pressure turns things towards the dark side once again, with some seriously heavy bass and vibrating effects. Convulsing, heavyweight basslines run up and down this one, instructing you to move your body and get involved. Closer Inflatable Skies sums things up perfectly, with floating electronics and street-ready beats blended to create something quite beautiful.

Undoubtedly one of the most respected names in the scene, industry veteran Cyantific has long been at the forefront of a unique, 80s-infused niche of drum & bass that has lead the way to decades of success. Since signing to Viper, Cyantific has played at virtually every major festival around the world, gained support from everyone from Annie Mac to Andy C, and continued to progress his own unique brand of drum & bass. 

His first release since last year’s ‘Bloodline’ LP on Viper, the legendary Cyantific returns with a brand new single. Teaming up with producer Eudaimonia, ‘4 Years’ marks a strong return to the scene. 
Opening with signature nostalgic energy, the track’s cinematic intro carries strong 80s vibes and a euphoric atmosphere. Following six studio albums of funk-driven loungecore, Hospital Records’ head honcho London Elektricity embarks on the boldest musical adventure of his 30-year career with his seventh long-player ‘Building Better Worlds’.

It began in a Forest Hill cafe in 2017 where London Elektricity adoringly browsed through a series of Benjamin Beech’s photography of perfectly untouched, derelict buildings and towns in Japan, Taiwan and China. “Many of the images show what has been, what could have been and what will be. The duality of beauty and melancholia within appealed to me immensely.” Each track was married to a photo, to join the sights to sounds from each of his tales of ‘Building Better Worlds.’

Leading the voyage is the orchestral masterpiece ‘Final View From The Rooftops’, that’s been 13 years in the making and is the “most unusual piece of D+B” [he’s] ever made”, featuring the incredible operatic talent of Cydnei B. ‘Build A Better World’ is a smooth drum & bass sonnet with the vocals of Hospital family favourite Emer Dineen. “The beauty of this song lies in its simplicity, but also its duality. I'll leave you to work out what the lyrics are really about… They are some of the darkest lyrics I've come across in years.”

Another special moment is the feature of London Elektricity’s youngest son, The Secretary-General. The talented nine-year-old takes no ‘Time To Think’ as he flawlessly flows through Inja’s lyrics with the ever-vibrant MC following suit, bringing the track full-circle across generations.

London Elektricity is the mastermind behind classic Hospital albums such as ‘Pull The Plug’, ‘Syncopated City’, ‘Are We There Yet?’, and ‘Yikes’. His latest body of work delves into uncharted depths for a very personal and expressive collection of tracks where drum & bass and live instrumentation meet. London Elektricity can be found showcasing this latest chapter with tours in China, Japan, the UK and Europe throughout 2019.
