Surreal Appeal are a three piece all-female group from Sheffield UK featuring two former members of The Cuckoo Clocks; Tracy Deakin and Sophie Toes, along with their erstwhile live and recording engineer, Grace Griffin. 

A project that had its seeds sewn in 2019, the band’s evolution has continued not only during a global pandemic; but also after the birth of a baby and a transgender epiphany. It’s no wonder Surreal Appeal have produced a gloriously metamorphic album that is perfectly described by journalist John McCready as “beautifully messy and gently deranged”. 

Witch-like stories told over haunting electronic beats, evoking the powerhouse of northern electro with a nod to krautrock. The songs hang in the head and engender a compulsion to return to them. 

Comparisons have been made to White Noise, United States Of America, Silver Apples, Flying lizards and Native Hipsters; yet it is still its own thing: a very English modern electronic psychedelia.

Friday 7th May 2021 sees the release of the second single by Sheffield based trio “Surreal Appeal” entitled “Do As You’re Told” available digitally via https://surrealappeal.bandcamp.com and on a limited edition 7” lathe cut from Do It Thissen Records (https://doitthissenrecords.bandcamp.com).

Followed by the release of their mini album “Gently Deranged” on Friday 4th June, available digitally via https://surrealappeal.bandcamp.com accompanied by a limited edition 4 track 10” lathe cut “What Do We Get” from Do It Thissen Records (https://doitthissenrecords.bandcamp.com).
