Last summer we started our sub-label DUAT Moving Pictures just to release movie scores and we started the project with the soundtrack of the Netflix movie "Kidnapping Stella" by Michael Kamm. The idea was, to get those cinematic songs remixed by various electronic music artists and release that interpretation on our mother techno label DUAT. This is the first chapter with great works by Vril, Anja Zaube, Amin Fallaha and R100, available on Vinyl and digital.

As a crucial figure in the history of the thriving Irish dance scene, and a favorite of the When We Dip team since their early formation in Dublin, Ian O’Donovan is an artist innately connected to the XYZ label. Through an illustrious career, he’s presented his unique blend of uplifting productions on behemoths such as Bedrock and Suara.

For an artist like O’Donovan, long form collections such as the recent Still Waters album provides a refreshed insight into the Irishman’s studio character in 2020. Still Waters masterfully touches upon deep & melodic tones, while also propelling us into techno-oriented fields throughout the project.

Continuing the LP’s journey, we proudly present four remixes from across the electronic landscape. Given the diverse nature of the original material, it’s only right that the remixes are equally as eclectic.

O’Donovan made his name crafting dark and vivacious techno productions throughout his career, and R.O.S.H perfectly summarizes this energetic nature via his remix of Emerald. Raising the tempo, the British producer propels the original tune into a surging heater. Tripped out spoken word and soaring synths bring immense character - a peak time tune!

Ian O'Donovan - Emerald (R.O.S.H. In Retrograde Remix) [Snippet]

Get Physical and Afro Acid come together for a heavyweight musical selection, as scene godfather DJ Pierre, as well as Chris Liebing, remix a classic track produced by American giant Roland Clark and Get Physical creative director, Roland Leesker. 

This outstanding package will be getting as exclusive Bandcamp only release on Get Physical’s store, with a wider release planned on DJ Pierre’s Afro Acid label in September. The record sees this diverse collection of widely acclaimed and hugely influential artists come together as one for a record that expresses their belief in love and unity. 

The release opens with the original, a dark, pulsating tune that straddles the house and techno divide with a bendy bassline, acid stabs and a tribal groove that is finished off with an iconic vocal. The first remix is from long time Chicago giant, Phuture founding member and Wild Pitch creator DJ Pierre. His remix is a big loopy disco jam, with soul bursting out of the colourful grooves, splashes of cymbal and horn and string sounds that get you feeling good. Mute artist and long-time dark techno mainstay Chris Liebing then comes through with a driving remix built on supple drum programming. It grows in stature, becoming ever more unhinged and is sure to blow any dance floor apart for years to come. 

Finally, we have DJ Pierre’s iconic Phuture project take the reins with an epic 10 minute plus mix of acid, rolling percussion and building tension. This is a welcome return from Phuture who have plans for a debut album in 2021. 

These are seminal tracks that will always sound vital in any context or era.

Ablaze with all the essential credentials of a classic 16B production, ‘Yellow’ explodes with an addictive positive energy, loaded with emotive celestial melodies that ebb and flow over a buoyant electronic bass groove, underpinned by crafty electro beats. Also on the package, Omid turns on the 90’s nostalgic charm with his upbeat '1997 Remix' of ’The Three Of Us’, laced with airy synths and indie guitars all set to an old school groove. Closing out this brilliant release with an emotionally charged slab of electronica is Omid’s new blissed-out downtempo ‘Falling Mix’ of ‘Hope’, taken from his 'Silenciety’ album.
