Legendary UK Techno outfit AnD debuts on Soma Records with a high octane and rave infected release, the Rough And Ready EP. A mainstay on the wider Techno circuit, AnD have forged a career with the heavy side of Techno and this release is nothing short of full throttle, true to their style of ‘GO HARD OR GO HOME’.
 
"Head High" opens this screamer of an EP at 100mph as rocking beats hit hard and fast as shredding synths build up, gradually increasing the tension. "Kick In The Face" does exactly what it says on the tin. A relentless and brutal affair, thunderous drum workouts are carved up once again by searing synth hooks. "Resist" takes things a little deeper but doesn’t hold back on intensity. As warped, sequenced hooks belt atop jacked-up drums and percussion. The Unknown Force closes out the release with a more sub-heavy attack. Direct and effective 909 drums drive home as huge synths once again add groove and dimension as they steadily increase in magnitude throughout.

Fast rising UK producer, Balrog, debuts on Soma with the Run For Cover EP. Hailing from the Yorkshire Dales just outside of Leeds, Balrog has supplanted himself in the darker and grittier side of industrial techno with a focus on heavy groove-ridden drums, driving bass and obscure distorted vocals. His tracks look back to the classic hard and grooving techno of the early 2000's, but with a fresh injection of modern industrial power.
Developing the EP during the UK’s lockdown, Balrog takes aim at mainstream media and makes a direct hit with title track Run For Cover hitting hard from the opening with its rampant and overdriven percussive workout. Talk That Shit ramps up the tempo even more as shearing drums pummel relentlessly throughout. Closing out with Embracing Change, Balrog takes no prisoners once again as he
leans on his more industrial roots, delivering on his uncompromising sound.

First track’s characteristics are something we see more often from VINYA; phat crunchy saw waves and voices in the left and right field to set you in a hostile trance. The almost serene rest in Flui is insidious, as you know it will come back to hit you again. A new born classic synth rhythm with overdriven waves done the right way in Caun, pushing you to the absolute limit. Enter the freight train with Tham for more hypnotizing and abstractness while Rezystor perfectly assembles Caun up to power 2 – hard to pick a favorite as they are both very effective.
