We are very delighted to welcome back our good friend VNTM (@vntmofficial) on the label. After three remixes it got time for this impressive EP, which contains the long-awaited title track ‘Occulent’ together with two other originals and two great remixes. The first remix comes from the acclaimed Italian duo Hunter/Game (@hunter-game) and the other one comes from the very talented and rising French artist Paul Roux(@paulrouxmusic).

The EP starts off with the title track ‘Occulent’, which could be seen as fast-paced melodic techno. A sound made signature by VNTM. The track has a driving and powerful lower end, accompanied by bright atmospheric elements. Throughout the arrangement, some emotional synthwork comes through, leading towards the moment where the track is all about that sharp synth.

In their interpretation of ‘Occulent’, Hunter/Game took that emotional part of the original track and spread it across their melodic focused remix, which makes the track more dreamy and mystical. It feels like you are drifting in between the elements of the original. On the other hand, the drums and percussion are giving a more propulsive feeling to the remix.

Next up is ‘Momentum’. This track gives the EP more depth and contains a lot of widespread repetitive details. The combination of these crispy details and atmospheric pads are creating a hypnotic environment, which gets more intense as new layers unfold themselves.

Paul Roux turned up the tempo in his remix of ‘Momentum’, but this doesn’t make the remix just a heavier version of the original. It’s the opposite, as a result of its soft kick, rhythmic percussion and astral soundscape. This composition is like a new world opening up right in front of you, guided by its sophisticated piano melody.

Contrarily to Paul his remix, the final track of the EP, titled ‘Rage Quit’, is representing the heavier side of the EP and has been a part of VNTM’s live-set for quite some time. It’s the most techno orientated track with a long-stretched arrangement, created for non-stop movement of a crowd.

It’s banger o’clock at @jannowitz Records headquarters. They need it, and you probably do, too! With a global pandemic still sabotaging almost all nightlife around the world, @jawdroppingrec wants to move the focus away from depressing thoughts and hopelessness and onto the dance floor. 

For this very specific task, they found exactly the right producer. Corrado Cardone aka Konrad was born and raised in Italy. While his music has been outstanding for many years, only recently he has drawn more attention to his alias - with releases on Octopus Records and Intec. Now it’s time for him to make waves on Jannowitz Records. We gave him the freedom to go crazy and provided him with four of the most exciting remixers we could find.

The result is “Urano EP”. An EP with two super intense original tracks and some great remixes. The second remix duo, or better said, trio, are Teenage Mutants and Jannowitz regular Heerhorst.

 If you’ve been following the label over the last months you definitely know the latter. And the former you will know from one their countless shows all around the world. Their remix of “Urano” is another proper techno banger that will leave many jaws on the (virtual) dance floors dropped. The heavy beats and the spacey synths seem to scream: no mercy! Quite the motto for this whole EP. 

And last but not least is the fact that the super dope Artwork was made by the Tattoo legend Mirco Campioni

We got our last taste of the creative synergy that marks Luigi Madonna and Roberto Capuano’s friendship when the pair dropped ‘Limitless’ in 2017, a brilliant addition to A-Sides Vol.6. Prior to that Luigi hadn’t dropped a cut on DC since 2015’s hook-driven ‘Magic Land’, while Capuano stands as one of the label’s most infallible contributors, last year’s ‘The Walker’ EP was typically impressive. 

Crafted between two studios in a pre-COVID-19 world, the three-track conceptual EP opens with ‘Mad World’, as masterfully layered industrial hits and rides depict it’s narrative, while a pulsating melodic lead ensures heavy impact. ‘System Alert’ is inspired by the destructive effects of climate change and the track’s composition mirrors this malaise, as a pitch-bending synth elicits rhythmic chaos alongside Luigi and Roberto’s deft drum work. ‘Headquarter’ is steeped in drama and cinematic charm, backed by a distorted vocal sample, stormy oscillating synths and a sharp percussive backdrop.
