April sees a new digital release from COD3 QR, coded "[QR]D.109.RFL.24". As usual the tracks have been selected by Laurent Garnier for the label whose ethos is: Music diversity is our strength!

First up is Skatman, the Berlin based, Tunisian born DJ, producer and label head of Cognitive Prophecy. He has gained recognition for his distinctive approach to electronic music, bridging the gap between classic and contemporary with tracks on the likes of Innervisions and Correspondent. Skatman has become one of the most intriguing and captivating artists with a production style that can be described as a mix between raw, unfiltered sounds, hypnotic grooves, and dreamy harmonies, as displayed on "Tribute to a Dancefloor".

Hailing from Yorkshire (UK) and Amsterdam (NL), the dynamic duo, Return Of The Luddites (formerly, Melatron & Ancient Artefact) are modern pioneers of the Punk-Electro sound. While one brings raw energy and gritty productions, the other weaves intricate electronic textures to form an electrifying sound, which they bring to second track, "Scream into the Darkness".

Producer and manager of the Slates Records label, Squal G is a French artist who has been passionate about electronic music since the early '90s. Initially, he practised his art as a DJ before turning to machines and computers as he progressed with production. Never sticking to a single style, instead, allowing inspiration to lead him, he nevertheless remains in the Techno spirit, as heard on "Waiting 4U".

French born, Mexican resident Joaquim Plossu has been making music as a producer, multi-instrumentalist and sound designer for the past 20 years with releases on COD3 QR, 31 Recordings, Fokuz, Repertoire, Deep Heads, Planet Rhythm and more. Both music composer and producer for TV and films, as well as Drum & Bass producer in his spare time, "Theory of the Tides" sees him team up with Salem Focus and Phoebe Train. Leeds based Salem has been scribbling since the school yard all the way to the stage supporting the likes of LTJ Bukem, Goldie, GLXY, Ms. Dynamite, Sully, Monrroe, Dub Pistols and Babylon Dead, while releasing on Fokuz Records, Soulvent and Galacy. While UK vocalist Phoebe Train's love for Drum & Bass meant she was always destined to unleash her soulful sound into her beloved scene. Her inward, deeply personal and ethereal approach to song-writing aims to connect with deeper meanings through her truly intimate and touching sound.

Yes Basketball was created by singer and drummer Pierre Marolleau in 2018, following an injury during a basketball match that put him out of action for a couple of months, the perfect time to start making some music. Pierre was soon joined by band members, Yoann Buffeteau (Montgomery) and Jérémy Rouault (Bumpkin Island). Yes Basketball isn't likely to ever choose between the bestial rage of wild Hip-Hop or spicy Post-Punk, imbued with Pop or R'n'B vocal harmonies. Jumping along the way of this arduous trip, you'll be tasting a madness that is at times wise and at others dark and raw. The latter is what they bring to closing track, "Next".

Das Gleiche gilt für auch Genres in der elektronischen Musik. DJs und Producer, die sich an sie halten, spielen „ordentlich“, wer sie ignoriert, hat schnell mal das Prädikat „Chaos“ am Start. Ich für meinen Teil wurde schon „Chaos DJ“ genannt - ich sag jetzt nicht, von wem. 

@m_a_r_c_i_s_m on the other hand würde das nie passieren, obwohl er Genres ebenfalls gering schätzt. Er spielt genrebefreit und hat trotzdem eine Handschrift. Er wildert ausserhalb jeglicher Reviere und genau darum ist die Welt seine Auster. Kurz: Er hat aus meiner Not seine Tugend gemacht.

"Ukraine has endured continuous bombings by Russian forces for over two years. In response, in 2022, we initiated our inaugural fundraiser "Grooves For Ukraine" and successfully raised over €7,000, which was donated to Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe. This organization provides aid not only in Ukraine but also wherever disaster strikes. During renewed attacks on several cities, countless innocent lives—including defenceless animals—were injured and lost. These animals, who would steadfastly protect their owners if they could, faced immense danger.

Our upcoming second fundraiser "Grooves For Ukraine Vol.II" supports two organizations, with funds split equally between them.

The first organization focuses on the often-overlooked companions who stand by our side—the pets and animals traumatized by the war. These furry friends endure the shock of missile strikes, losing their homes, loved ones, and families, living in perpetual fear amidst chaos.

UAnimal, a Ukrainian animal welfare group, coordinates efforts to aid animal shelters and organizations across the country. Since the conflict began, they've tirelessly rescued and cared for animals affected by bombings, reconstructing shelters destroyed by the Russian military. Additionally, they advocate for animal rights and oppose fur-based fashion.

The second organization, AIDx10, consists of volunteers based in Kyiv, London, and Berlin—a team of creative professionals committed to Ukraine's sovereignty and freedom. By leveraging creative communities in music, art, design, and fashion, AIDx10 aims to bolster frontline aid efforts and collective resilience against Russia's aggression.

Long-term house and techno heavyweight, Kevin M. Kennedy aka FBK has a career spanning three decades. Debuting with a seminal release on Frictional in ’97, Kennedy went on to appear on labels like diametric. and Urban Kickz, whilst more recent releases have landed on Barba Records, Suspected (alongside Paul Mac) and Rekids - kick-starting the label’s Special Projects series. With a close bond to Detroit greats like Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir, Daniel Bell, Claude Young, Keith Tucker and Sherard Ingram (DJ Stingray), FBK is considered a true contemporary. Returning to Rekids for his inaugural longplayer, ‘More Stories From The Future’ demonstrates his versatility within the studio and mirrors his genre-bending approach to performing, both as a DJ and live act.

‘Modular Life’ brings deep resonating lows, liquid pads and clinical percussion, before the psychedelic vocals of ‘I’ll Sit Back, You’ll Jack’ join smashing snares and intensifying synths. Exhibiting erratic sound design, ‘Layers of Fear’ comes complete with pumping drums and intense hi-hats, until ‘Hassling’ offers a stepping groove, thick pad stabs and deep sub movement.

‘Headless’ gets modular heavy with bubbling effects and shuffling rhythm, preceding the driving kicks of ‘Gate Closing’ where ghostly vocals meet enveloping acid growls. ‘The Boxing Lesson’ delivers punchy kicks and steppy snares under lofty atmospherics, ending on ‘The Finisher’s Heart’ where evolving detuned synths flow over powerful percussion.

We Are The Brave boss Alan Fitzpatrick joins Rekids with ‘Step Away’, a euphorically chargedtechno release featuring two remixes from Planetary Assault Systems.

Having performed across the world at the likes of Watergate, fabric, Shelter and DC-10, renowned UKartist Alan Fitzpatrick has continued to bring driving techno to the forefront of electronic music culture since the early 2000s. With a ream of releases on Figure, Unknown To The Unknown, Drumcode, Hotflush and many more, he now launches into 2020 with his debut on Radio Slave’s revered imprint.

Fitzpatrick’s signature, thundering techno cut ‘Step Away’ opens with spacey toms, industrial kicks, delayed claps, pulsing bass and atmospherically sustained keys.

The hailed Mote-Evolver boss and esteemed remixer Luke Slater serves up two propulsive edits under his Planetary Assault Systems alias with the first remix being otherworldly with reverbed stabs, subtle arpeggiated synths, minimalistic drums whilst the second remix goes into overdrive with analogue beat programming, computerised melodies and a harrowing sub-frequency rhythm.

Belgian producer SIWEI releases FSBP as a follow up to his IFLN releases. 22-year-old Robin Singulé, currently hailing from Antwerp, has a refined sound in a constant state of flux as this new EP laments.

Being on the paradoxically moody yet punch worthy sound spectrum, this is one for in-the-know patrons of the scene. Vicious breaks, curiosity, and a lulled path down a drippy conforming low end describe the layer cake that makes up this intricately textured release. As is characteristic of his past sound, SIWEI leaves you eased, wondering and wanting.

His unbridled love of toying on a modular rack and playing with the guitar shine through and lead the listener through a setting where one can easily imagine a feline-like agility to the switches in tone and pace of the pieces. It’s familiar, and yet he adds a narrative of sound to define each release in its own right. It’s gritty, it’s reminiscent and refreshing.

Tripeo collaborates with fellow Dutch artist Cadans on his self-titled imprint with three original cuts entitled ‘Non Perfect Drone Replication’. 

Over the years, Darko Esser aka Tripeo has become a truly respected figure within the techno world. Widely known for helming his acclaimed Wolfskuil Records, BALANS and self-titled label where he’s released an array of his own impressive productions, Darko continues to edge out a corner of the techno sphere through a regular gig and release schedule that’s been of consistent quality for over 20 years. ‘Non Perfect Drone Replication’ marks Tripeo’s first release of the new decade seeing him link up with Dutch producer Cadans who has releases on Clone, Neighbourhood and Hardgroove (when not producing drum and bass as Icicle). ‘Drone’ begins with tense atmospheres and haunting leads underneath the humming percussion and oscillating synths that surge as the track progresses before ‘Non PC’ employs energetic rhythms underneath wavering modulations and spectral tones that keeps this peak-time cut enticing through till the end. To finish, ‘Perfect Replication’ offers up an electro cut that’s peppered with a nostalgic yet modern feel through breaky grooves, alleviating pads and stabbing tones.
