Coming up in the music scene of Kansas City and currently residing in Detroit, Uun developed his interest in the fringes of sound as a guitarist in multiple bands before turning his focus to techno in 2012. Both his early work as a band member and his current output as a techno performer share a common exploration of darkness both in mood and in execution. Hard Wax described Uun's sound as a "straight ahead techno juggernaut."

Patanjali is Amotik’s second full-length album to be self-released on 4th March 2022.  

The album is the British born DJs follow-up to his debut LP, "Vistār" from 2019 which was given several accolades including "Album of the Month" in Mixmag and featured as an "Essential Album" in Groove Magazine. 

Patanjali took inspiration from Amotik's late grandfather and was named after his yoga ashram. Although not identifying as particularly spiritual, he believes the influence of his grandfather subconsciously reverberates throughout his own. While his music could be considered straightforward techno, it simultaneously has an intensely hypnotic and meditative quality that subtly speaks to these deeply embedded influences in his upbringing.

The album features 10 tracks rich with elements of ambient, breakbeat and textured soundscapes while maintaining foundations firmly rooted in techno. Amotik avoids flavour of the month trends and stays true to his own sound.

“I wrote this album when we were in the harshest moment of the Berlin lockdown. I was able to take some time out from the world around me and channel my energy on writing after a long studio break," said Amotik - of how 'Patanjali' turned out to be a mix of dreamy escapism combined with the urge to be back on a dance floor once again.

Amotik has steadily built a solid base in Berlin since moving from the UK several years ago, beginning in 2015 with successful EPs on his self-titled imprint, as well as labels such as 47, BPitch Control and Figure. His unique artistic style - hypnotic/atmospheric techno with a relentless and raw undertone has seen him gain support as a producer and DJ seeing him regularly perform at some of the most exciting clubs and festivals around the globe.

Cause and Effect a law of nature able to rebel against the presumption of mankind and the lack of respect for a world that gives us life and hosts us in order to live it, as well as its rather selfish role, with the arrogance of being able to excel every time, believing therefore to be decisive and dominant to every single event. As a result, man always leaves out the consequences of his negative effect, despite what history has taught us about the balance man-nature, reducing his dominant role when it is about to be blamed as the cause.
There is a saying from an ancient American Indian tribe that reading:
"We don't inherit the land from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children..."
We need to raise awareness and learn from the mistakes we made so far to have a solid conviction, a clear perception in supporting and respecting the ecology of our world even more, without waiting any longer, as anticipation brings the energy charge, which in turn leads to liberation.
We free Earth from our mistakes because in a not-so-distant future even our children will be indebted to Mother Nature and future generations to come; therefore if the time of an end ever existed, if we do not change promptly, we risk accelerating this process.

Lluis Ribalta marks two decades in an Techno journey full of twists and turns, with the release of his debut full-length album, Bring In Back. set for release on August 16, 2025, via Rawsery. Exos launches his X/OZ label on Tuesday 20th June, with the six-track EP,  ‘Invisible Limits Vol. 1’. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of Exos’ ‘Hverfult’ from it above.

As one of the longest-running techno artists from Iceland, Exos has been releasing music for 20 years for labels including Thule Records, Bliq and Slow To Speak.

In 2015 he was signed up to Nina Kraviz’ трип Recordings, collaborating with the label boss for their cut, ‘No Criminals’.

On the ‘Invisible Limits Vol. 1’ EP, Exos launches his new X/OZ imprint with music from himself, as well as Gurk, Soschla, Octal and Ruxpin.

Speaking about  ‘Hverfult’, Exos told DJ Mag, “So this track has three different elements. The past, present and future.

“‘Hverfult’ describes my musical aspects from there to now. It has my old signature sound from the E-mu ESI-4000 and the Nord Modular, mixed with software synths from Ableton.”

Uun's techno blends widescreen grayscale imagery with propulsive dancefloor pressure. Whether crafting what Hardwax dubs "straight ahead techno juggernauts" or deep, introspective tools, his work is grounded in a masterful command of atmosphere and texture. 

Uun developed his interest in fringe sounds as a guitarist and drummer in his hometown of Kansas City before shifting his attention to electronic music in 2012. This led him to relocate to Detroit, where he spent seven years pushing deeper into the underground techno scene, refining his production and performance methods. Between the Midwest and  several periods in Berlin—another city he's found a deep connection to—he's honed a style that's allowed his music to nimbly navigate between different subgenres, "quietly infiltrating" the genre from multiple angles at once. 

Uun's sound and his ability to mold it into a variety of forms has captured the attention of lauded techno labels like Mord, Semantica, and Soma. On his own Ego Death imprint, he pushes past genre confines and deeper into his music's underlying themes, exploring existentialism, duality, and the role of the artist in the modern era. His first full length, 2022's Derealization, interrogated dreams through rebuilding memories of liminal spaces, and on his latest Ego Death release, 2024's Platform Decay, he laces his tracks with a poignant criticism of social media-driven cultural homogenization while doubling down on his own uncompromising sound. 

As a live performer, Uun distills years of his studio practice into cathartic sets that build off his productions while pushing them into exploratory new territory. His live show has taken him to legendary clubs like Berlin's Tresor, Tbilisi's Khidi, Detroit's Movement Festival, and Brookyln's Basement, and alongside the decade-plus of releases under his belt, it's safe to say Uun's infiltration of techno might not be so quiet for much longer.
