Bio - 6RAJ

Raised in the multicultural haven of Toronto, 6RAJ began collecting, curating and mixing diverse dance music at the young age of thirteen. After taking up scholarship in the Netherlands and South Africa, 6RAJ returned to North America with deep dancefloor sets inspired by the sounds of global deep house, melodic techno and afrotech. Now based in Montréal, 6RAJ has garnered international appreciation for their unique style of dark afro-inspired melodic techno: their most requested ID of 2021 was played by techno legend Richie Hawtin on New Years’ Eve and his unreleased music has been supported by DJs on Afterlife, Desert Hearts Black, Steyoyoke and Stil Vor Talent, among others.

Along the way, discovered his intellectual love affair with philosophy and his creative passion for DJing were in fact part of the same critical project: the liberation of minds and bodies through a unifying intersubjective language. 6RAJ infuses electronic music with transcultural storytelling rooted in his ancestral connections to South Asia, East Africa, and North America. His signature sound blends melodic house and techno with rich Indian, African, and Western traditions of rhythm, melody, and poetry.

Shaped by residencies in Montréal, Cape Town, and Berlin, 6RAJ’s imaginative productions unapologetically transcend cultural silos and captivate diverse audiences. Dancefloor-focused collaborations with renowned Hindi, English, Arabic, and French vocalists landed him on renowned imprints like Iziki and Steyoyoke. His records have been supported by veteran selectors Richie Hawtin, Djuma Soundsystem, &ME and rising stars on Afterlife, Still Vor Talent, and Anjunadeep.

In 2024, 6RAJ launched Interdependence, a global record label, event series, and creative movement headquartered at Berlin’s iconic Riverside Studios. Interdependence curates audiovisual experiences that generate deep feelings of connection between bodies, souls, communities, and cultures. At the heart of Interdependence lies a profound spiritual ethos: everything is connected; no one can heal in isolation; and all liberation must be collective.

Behind the decks, 6RAJ skillfully guides dancefloor journeys that generate feelings of interconnectedness and moments of catharsis. His grounding poise reflects a lifelong dedication to the study of meditation, mysticism, and psychedelic healing practices.
