My name is Ugo, and I work the best neo House music! Creating as Ugointhehouse, I live in Harlem, New York City; was raised in The Bronx and Accra, Ghana; and entered the world in Rome, Italy.
Growing up in Ghana, I remember jamming to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”, crooning to the soft rock melodies of Bryan Adam’s “Everything I Do”, and shaking to Ghana’s highlife artists. After I moved to NYC, the gritty musings of the Notorious BIG further shaped my sensibilities. Then AfroJack’s pulsating sounds added another dimension to my evolving music tastes. I was so fascinated with house music that I moved to its capital, Amsterdam. I got my first break at a dinner party – remixing Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” – which subsequently became my first radio play.
Since then, I have shared the stage with artists like St. JHN and worked with producers like Lucky Luke and Rami Afuni. I continue to discover and create what I consider the defining beats and sounds of the next generation.
