Just over a year after the label's official inception and first release - PG Records have compiled a massive all Australian bass music album. Representative in equal parts of the sound they’ve pushed for years, and the new found directions Australian bass music is taking them in.

The first part of the album pays homage to the sound most widely affiliated with PG - bassy, mid tempo funk and glitch hop, featuring a spread of tunes from both up and coming Perth local artists such as Garlic party, Last Armor and T-Mech amongst heavy hitting artists in the Australian festival scene such as Chamberlain. The first half of the album provides an accurate representation of the distinct sounds emerging in mid tempo music on both the East and West coast of Australia.

The second half of Parental Guidance is a representation of the direction that the label has more recently embraced, moving away from it’s origins in glitch hop and funk and opening up into a collection of dub, halftime and IDM. Spanning a huge breadth of niche genres and representing almost every state throughout Australia - the second half of the album is heavily influenced by PG Records co-founder and recent addition to the team - Eputty, who closes out the album with a unique take on neuro breaks.

How Bout - OUT NOW ON PULP GLITCHIN RECORDS

After five years of planning, writing, and refining their sound, London-based production duo Kolectiv are set to release their long-awaited debut drum & bass album, Circadian Rhythms.

The project began in the aftermath of the pandemic, when the pair started setting aside tracks that captured the spirit of a night out at a drum & bass event. Their vision was clear: to create an album that reflects the variety, energy, and progression of a rave – from the first beats that pull you into the closing sounds that carry you home.

“Going out to drum & bass nights, you’d hear so many different flavours across six or seven hours. We wanted the album to follow that same arc – like a circadian rhythm, a natural flow of time, but in this case the cycle of a rave,” Kolectiv explain.

To achieve this, the duo placed a strong emphasis on originality and sound design. Most of the album was built from scratch using their own recorded samples, crafted through sessions with keys, drums, and guitars, and only dipping into external sources when absolutely necessary. Vocal collaborations from PAV4N, Hijak MC, Illmatika and Kerry Donnelly add unique flavour to the project, while carefully placed interludes tie the project together as a complete listening experience.

“This isn’t just a collection of tracks. We wanted it to be a journey – a cradle-to-grave kind of experience – with highs, lows, and moments to breathe.”

The title Circadian Rhythms captures that intention perfectly: an audio diary of a night spent immersed in drum & bass culture, told through Kolectiv’s trademark blend of technical precision and emotional depth.

The project also coincided with a complete studio overhaul, giving Kolectiv a fresh environment to finalize and mix down the record with a renewed sense of clarity and focus.

With Circadian Rhythms, Kolectiv deliver more than an album – they present a story, an atmosphere, and a tribute to the music and culture that shaped them.
