How to play 8ball?


8ball is a discipline of pool played on a billiard table with six pockets, cue sticks, and sixteen billiard balls (a cue ball and fifteen object balls). The object balls are divided into two groups: solids (numbered from one to seven) and stripes (numbered from nine to fifteen). The eight ball is black and has no number. The aim of the game is to pocket all the balls of your group (either solids or stripes) before pocketing the eight ball. However, there are some rules and fouls that you need to follow. You must always hit your own group of balls first with the cue ball.


You must not pocket the cue ball or any ball from the opposite group.


You must not hit any ball off the table or make any illegal contact with any ball.


You must not pocket the eight ball before clearing your group of balls.

You must pocket the eight ball in the same pocket as your last object ball (unless otherwise agreed).




If you commit any foul, you lose your turn and give your opponent ball in hand (the ability to place the cue ball anywhere on the table). If you pocket the eight ball before clearing your group or in a wrong pocket or by a foul, you lose the game.

 
What are the different types of 8ball?

Chinese 8ball: This is a relatively new version of 8ball that originated in China and is gaining popularity worldwide. It follows the rules of the Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association (CBSA), which are similar to the American rules but with some modifications.
