DEEP HOUSE SUMMER MIX 2 - AHMET KILIC

Chilean DJ and producer, Andre Butano, is a rising star both in his homeland and on the international house music scene. Originally working as a chef in some of Santiago’s finest restaurants his love of music gradually took him into new career.  It was a good move, as his productions - released on labels including Kling Klong, 8bit, Anhura, Melisma, Brise, Amam, Robsoul and Natural Rhythm - have picked up plays from Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Terry Lee Brown Jr., Brett Johnson, C-rock and Tobi Neumann.

As resident at several parties in Chile, including Club La Feria, Andre’s experience on the decks shines through in his Gangstercast, which he describes, “I choose my music for people to have fun, my identity is the basslines: fat, always with groove, percussion, synths, vocals and energetic rhythms.”  The tracks in the mix cover, “old sounds with more modern things, things from friends and artists I like.  I try to give a Chilean flavor.”

Andre explains that the mix was recorded, “100% live, with 3 CDJs from Club la Feria
of which I am the resident” and adds, “I’m very proud of being invited to participate in this podcast of the master DJ Sneak.  It is really a honor. Chile has lots of love to all those House Ganster addicts and now I already consider myself to be a South American HOUSE GANGSTER. I am try to educate a new generations in  my country with House style. In Chile we are still playing with vinyl, old school house and very underground music. I am very proud to be the first Chilean artist to represent this movement, love it!!!

As the dust finally begins to settle after the release of Pan-Pot's massive album 'The Other', it's time to unleash a collection of heavy hitting reworks from the best and brightest stars of todays techno elite. Through careful consideration and an acute attention to detail, we couldn't be more elated to confirm ten artists we know and love to contribute their unique vision to Second State's first ever remix package.

Kicking things off with a heavily twisted alteration of 'Attention' is Nicole Moudaber and it's a tangled, dark trek through dense acoustic layers of audible madness. Next up is the Hamburg duo

Extrawelt with their twist on 'Optimistic Grey' and they deliver a beautiful blend of emotion and groove they are synonymous for.

Following suit is another passionately romantic number from man of the hour, Stephan Bodzin, and his take feels like floating through a sea of clouds, resulting in a timeless classic to be a focal point in any set for years to come.

Next in line is Ray Kajioka's take on '808 Nirvana' and it's a cosmic ride, ripe with swirling atmospherics laid over big churning drums and rolling cymbals.

Following up on the second 12“ of this LP is a man who needs no introduction: Carl Cox. And in true Coxy fashion he turns 'Riot' into just that: a big room, tension building monster!

Broken Engine' is the next track to get worked over and Wigbert delivers a stunning mix of shimmering tones and growling bass resulting in a lush venture through a cosmic backdrop of flickering stars in deep space.

Joseph Capriati ensues with his vision of 'Fugitives' and he brilliantly keeps the vibe of the original yet adds his trademark big room flair to take it to another level of driving euphoria.

Enlisting the talents of Alan Fitzpatrick to remix one of the slower listening tracks on the album turned out to be magic. With his signature percussion, Fitzpatrick takes the parts and creates a dive deep into sultry smooth waters of seduction.

The first of our last two remixes, which are digital exclusives, come from Paul Ritch and he delivers a grinding rendition of 'Riot', expertly crafted for the more euphoric peak time occasions.

Last and certainly not least is a man on the rise, Kevin Knapp with his twist on his own collaboration with Pan-Pot: 'Get In'. An expertly crafted tech house jam exploding with energy and attitude perfect for any moment, day or night, indoors or out.

No matter the time or place, there is something here for everyone and we are truly fulfilled and honored to present this package of cutting edge artists to celebrate this landmark moment. We know you will enjoy!

For the past year or so we've been following this dude Latmun who's been pumping out some of the best Tech House we've ever heard. When we looked him up we realized he was just a kid from Nottingham, UK who was just starting his career even though his tracks sounded like he'd been in the game for 15 years. We knew straight away that this kid was going to be a star and we had to bring him into the Desert Hearts Family. He jumped aboard a plane for his first trip to the US and absolutely murdered his 2.5 hour set on Friday night at our Spring Festival '16.  Even though we had just met him, it felt like we were watching him grow up right in front of our eyes as he truly got the DH party started with one giant tech house kick up the ass.

INTERVIEW
1. How did you learn producing?

“My first encounter with software was in 2002. I found it somewhere online, it was called Orion which was a really simple program. I just put random drums and other samples like natural sounds and different voices on there. Funny times. I made a lot of stuff. Track by track but all of them were a big mess. The only point for me was that I can just make my own sound, with my own rhythms. After it I looked for other software and tried to learn to use them by myself like rebirth, e-jay, fruity loops and reason. Nowadays I am using Ableton and learning Logic. The last year I totally gave up to work with samples and vsts. It was very boring and not too inspiring to still click with the mouse after 12 years. So I started to buy some gear and learned how to make music with analog sound, which is not so static and much more fun. You can make more organic sounds and very interesting things. So step by step I tried to build up my little studio. This is a never ending learning.”

2. Favorite DJ setup?

“I think you can make good and bad sets with 2 CDJs, turntables or laptops. The only thing which is important is the music that you play.”

3. What keeps you going?

“Producing and making high quality music as much as I can. It starts with experiments in sounds and comes to how can I connect this with my gear to create something interesting. I just started my new project which will be a vinyl label. The first few releases will be only with PM originals. The first EP is ready so the next step is finishing the second and third EP and start the process with the pressing asap.”

4. Next release?

“My next release will be a vinyl VA track on the Sunday Mornings Records, which is a new sub label from Kanja Recods. Also I would like to mention my last release on Cadenza Lab. I was very happy when I got the request from Lucien. I remember the first few days I could not believe that. After the release I got a lot of good feedback and support so hopefully this is a good start to the next level and something new.”

5. What do you listen to besides electronic music?

“I like the instrumental music, I almost listen to any kind of music if I can find something interesting in it.”

6. DAW?

“Ableton/Logic. For me it is much easier to edit the recording parts in Ableton but the final mixed track coming out from Logic.”

7. What makes dance music so special to you?

“I can present myself through dance music. It makes me happy everyday if I can produce something new, something what I never did before. I can say platitudes but the dance music is for me self-expression. Sends out some interesting feelings from inside.”
