We’re thrilled to welcome Chicago’s Rez Dosia to Obscura for his first feature length project - The Abstrakt Lover EP. With a feature selection on the recent Jimi Jules Essential Mix, Rez is on the rise as the summer season kicks into gear.

The project’s namesake and A-side Abstrakt Lover brings crisp acidic tones and tripped out vocal chops, creating bespoke dancefloor moments. Lights Out & Apache Plume bring a low-slung minimal vibe, keeping the groove tight while allowing punchy drum programming to catch the ear. Atacama welcomes floating melodies to lighten the mood, before Black Reflections sends us back into the deep with an ominous analog arrangement brimming with late night flavor. Closure wraps up the projects with an elongated break welcoming signature dancefloor moments.

We’re thrilled to welcome Chicago’s Rez Dosia back to Obscura for his second feature length project - the Hurt Me Bad EP. Rez is on the rise as the summer season kicks into high gear, with widespread support flowing in from techno titans Jimi Jules, Fedele, Dubfire, and more.

This 5-track EP spans the spectrum of synthetic mastery, garnishing global selectors with innovative tools for peak-time punch. A New Level claims the A-side role, featuring a vibrantly lo-fi vocal performance from Vela-Fi which floats over a crisp & playful synthetic house groove. Revolution welcomes driving dips & dives; an ominous offering with a vivacious build for dancefloor defiance. The EP’s namesake - Hurt Me Bad - continues to turn the dial, propelling us deeper into an analog assault of Rez Dorsia. Klexos is a progressive-tinged number angled through the lens of acid techno. Closing out the project is everyone’s dear friend - Anxiety. The most linear and after-hours feeling of the bunch, Rez welcomes tripped-out tones to keep the late-night lovers floating into higher planes. Simply put - another round of undeniable productions from Rez Dorsia.

Steve Lawler creates an anthem for our times in his long-awaited debut for Truesoul.

Steve Lawler first released on one of Adam Beyer’s imprints back in 2008, dropping the minimal-tinged ‘Doves / Chalkee’ on Drumcode, a collaboration with fellow Brit Alex Tepper. Yet despite the groove-orientated vibes of his sound, ‘People’ marks his debut on DC’s little brother imprint Truesoul. 

Lawler’s created a powerful hymn about the state of the world, linking up with Lisbon’s MC Johnny Def whose stirring vocal combines masterfully with a catchy two-note synth loop and driving percussion, building to an uplifting crescendo. The functional package also includes a Dub Mix of ‘People’, offering up a crunchy, tweaked out tech version, alongside an Acapella.

Lawler explains about ‘People’, “This track was written because of what I see and hear around the world on a daily basis now - the fighting, racism, sexism, terrorism. As a father it scares the hell out of me. I had to write something, but never knew how to do it without making a depressing record. So, this is my attempt to make something beautiful, but with the message I wanted.”
