Ian Pooley returns to Rekids with Studio A Pt.3 this September. 

The third and final entry in a three-part release series based on his studio, Ian Pooley’s ‘Studio A Pt. 3’ for Radio Slave’s imprint sees him drop yet another set of bumping, hardware-focussed tracks.

Leading the A-side, ‘PSS480’ combines swinging drums, modulated low end, and trippy bleeps for a party-starting house track. ‘SP12 Electric Mistress’ brings flanged-out drums and lush pads together for a wonky yet driving cut. On the flip, ‘Viola’ sees Pooley heading toward heavier territories with rumbling kicks and heaving synths forming a pumping techno track before the ‘303 Version’ of ‘SP12 Electric Mistress’ closes out the EP, introducing tweaked-out acid lines and freaky FX to the original version.

Active since the early 90s, the German DJ/producer has released on the likes of Force Inc, V2 Records, and his own Pooledmusic, remixing for the likes of Deee-Lite, Carl Cox and many more, as well as being one of the few to be remixed by Daft Punk.

The latest Neverdogs' offering marks the twentieth body of work to land on their increasingly popular Bamboleo Records imprint, with the duo returning to their spiritual home to unveil an immersive four-track EP.

Beginning with the title track, 'Feeling Something' flies straight out of the gate with bumpy grooves and a catchy bassline whilst Magaziine's hypnotic vocal topline steers the mix.

'Hoover' comes next, keeping the swinging underground flavours at a premium with more jackin' drums, crisp percussive flair and gritty melodies from end to end.

The on-trend sounds of 'Tamarindo' features velvety Deep House vibes with a wave of bright harmonies alongside sultry vocal shots and more well-structured & explicitly danceable drum work.

'Pura Vida' brings the release to a close with upbeat rhythms from the outset, carving out a perpetual subterranean wobbler with endless layers of individual movement and dreamy notes.

Cook Strummer has compiled the latest Berlin Gets Physical, but first comes a second EP taken from it with two fresh cuts. This one opens up with a collaboration between Daniel Jaeger - a German underground mainstay who has put out a vast number of high-quality tunes over the last decade - and fellow house talent and Jaeger’s brother Valenti. 'Quarantine Cowboys' is Valenti’s first ever release but is hugely accomplished with a superbly low-slung groove, a dirty bass guitar and hiccuping beats. It seduces in its own sleazy fashion, with filtered spoken words adding to the steaminess. It all adds up to a fresh house sound indeed.

The Owl - Stepping Out

Just 22 years young, the German procurer of beats Kolja Gerstenberg has a well versed affinity to the glory days of funk, soul, disco, jazz and rock, which far precede his birth. His own productions bring the sonic marriage of these golden-time influences and electronic music – it having resided in Kolja's blood and tradition, with his dad being the former Afrotrance percussionist that released on the likes of R&S and Harthouse.

Kolja's forthcoming Sand EP has been blessed with a remix of its title track, by none other than the exalted Move D. In fact, it's the first remix he's done after a two year long hiatus! And it – of course – lives up to the hype. Carrying with it much of Kolja's original in its essence, Mr. Moufang spins his own take on "Sand" by stripping elements down and rebuilding the track – all alongside the distinctive, pitched-down sample that keeps in tune with the original's retrospective swing. Instant good feels.

Pity I didn't think to Google around a bit before I started on this one - had no idea that Greg Wilson had done a version of it on "Credit to the Edit Vol.1" until after I’d finished. And there I was thinking I was being all original…

FWIW my edit’s based on the album version whereas the Credit to the Edit, uh, edit is based on the 12’’ take.. Or at least I think it is. Either way credit to Credit to the Edit for getting there first, if you see what I mean.

"SuperStudio" anticipates Calibro's new album DECADE that hits the streets next 02 February. Quoting the band "SuperStudio is the main theme for a movie that doesn't exist, starring Clint Eastwood and Pam Grier saving earth from the invasion of deadly robots from another planet" and it's pure Dynamite. 

Recorded at the legendary Officine Meccaniche studios in Milan by CALIBRO's usual suspect and Grammy Award winner Tommaso Colliva, "DECADE" marks 10 years of Calibro 35's releases and it's the very first album recorded by Calibro with an orchestral-inspired enlarged line-up. Active since 2008 CALIBRO 35 enjoys a worldwide reputation as one of the coolest independent band around.
